영문 초록

This study attempts to explore the housework role performance between husband and wife in the dual-earner couples and to test the availability of the four theoretical approaches. The data of this study had been collected from a sample consisting of 370 dual-earner couples who are living is Seoul city and the Seoul suburbs. The structured self-administrating questionnaires, separated for husband and wife, had been used from May to July, 1994. Major findings are as follows : Husbands' participation in the housework role are very low in absolute scores, and dual burdens of employed wives are apparent phenomenon. And of the four theoretical approaches, the sex role ideology explains the housework role performance well. This study discusses about the unequal burdens between husband and wife in the housework roles. And this study suggests to explore the relationships between housework role performance and their marital quality in order to identify and to lessen their stresses, strains, or conflicts.
