국문 초록

쉬자싱(許家星) 교수의 『요로 사상 연구(饒魯思想研究)』는 역사 속에 묻혀 있던 주자 후학을 위해 목소리를 내고자 하는 목적 아래, 『요쌍봉강의(饒雙峰講義)』, 『사서집성(四書集成)』, 『사서집석(四書輯釋)』, 『한국문집총간(韓國文集叢刊)』 등의 문헌들을 심층적으로 발굴하여, 주자의 재전제자 가운데 ‘두각을 드러낸 걸출한 인물(孫枝秀出)’로 평가되는 요로를 최초로 체계적으로 조명하고, 그의 ‘정밀함, 참신함, 비판성, 자긍심’이라는 학문적 특징을 부각시켰다. 저자는 요로 학설의 우수함을 증명하고, 요로를 인용하거나 평가한 자료에 기반하여 그의 학술적 영향력을 밝히고자 하였다. 이 작업을 통해 ‘주자학의 정통 계승자(朱學世嫡)’으로서 요로의 지위를 새롭게 정립하고, 이로써 주자 후학 계보의 중요한 공백을 보완하였다. 요로는 비록 주자의 학설을 신랄하게 비판하였으나, 그 비판은 자신이 가진 문제 의식을 바탕으로 한 주자학 내부의 치열한 성찰이자 반성이었다. 주자학에 대한 요로의 문제 제기 및 보완은 주자학이 가진 다원적 면모와 생명력을 보여준다.

영문 초록

With a deliberate intent to ‘give voice to the obscure’, Professor Xu Jiaxing’s book A Study of Rao Lu’s Thought systematically uncovers the philosophy of Rao Lu 饶鲁, a thinker who “branched out brilliantly”. By delving into classic sources such as Lectures by Rao Shuangfeng 饶双峰讲义, Compendium of the Four Books 四书集成, Collected Explanations of the Four Books 四书辑释, Insightful Perspectives on the Four Books 四书管窥, and the Korean Literary Collections in Classical Chinese 韩国文集丛 刊, the book comprehensively brings out Rao Lu’s scholarly traits of “precision, originality, critical spirit, and intellectual confidence”. Employing a dual approach of “validating his doctrine” and “demonstrating his influence”, the author reaffirms Rao Lu’s rightful status as “true heir of Zhu Xi’s learning” and therefore fills a crucial gap in the lineage of Zhu Xi’s later followers. The research reveals that although Rao Lu criticized Zhu Xi in many respects, his “dissent” did not stem from a shallow rebellious impulse to undermine Zhu Xi’s teachings but from a sincere perception of certain intellectual problems. Rao Lu’s bold skepticism and constructive correctives reveal the pluralism and dynamic vitality of Zhu Xi’s philosophical influence. 许家星教授《饶鲁思想研究》一书以为被埋没于历史的朱子学者发声的自觉，钩沉《饶双峰讲义》《四书集成》《四书辑释》《韩国文集丛刊》等文献，首次系统发掘饶鲁这位朱子再传中“孙枝秀出”的哲学家，凸显其“精密、新颖、批判、自信”的学问特质。作者从“自证其学说”和“引证其影响”双重进路，重新证明了饶鲁应有的“朱学世嫡”之地位，填补了朱子后学谱系的重要缺环。饶鲁虽对朱子之说多有批判，但他并非出于浅薄的反叛情绪妄行破朱之举，而是在自身问题意识的引导下以及所行自为工夫的基础上，善于对朱子学进行内部的反思。其敢于质疑、善于补正的姿态，展现了朱子学的多元面貌与生机活力。
