Media Bias, Misinformation and Public Veterinary Literacy: A One Health Mixed‑Methods Study

국문 초록

본 연구는 국내 언론 편향과 허위정보가 대중의 수의학 문해도에 미치는 영향을 One Health 관점에서 규명하였다. 연구 설계는 혼합 방법으로 구성되었으며, ① 2021–2023년 신문·방송·온라인 기사 500건의 내용분석, ② 성인 840명을 대상으로 한 온라인 설문에 대한 구조방정식 모형 분석, ③ 수의·역학·디지털 전문가 18인 심층인터뷰를 수행하였다. 분석 결과, 위기 중심 보도는 위험 인식을 과도하게 높이고 통제 가능성 인식을 약화시켜 문해도를 저하시켰으며(β = 0.42, –0.37, 모두 p < .001), SNS 허위정보 노출은 매체 신뢰 하락을 매개로 부정적 효과를 보였다(β = –0.45, p < .001). 반면 AI 팩트체크 캠페인 경험은 이 관계를 완화하였다(β = 0.23, p < .01). 집단별로는 반려동물 양육자(480명)·축산업 종사자(210명)·농촌 비양육자(150명) 간 정보 채널 선호도가 상이해 맞춤형 전략이 요구되었다. 정책 제언으로는 ‘국가 수의학 팩트체크 센터’ 설립, 수의대 커뮤니케이션 교육 의무화, 언론 보도 가이드라인 및 용어 단순화 체계 도입을 제시한다. 본 연구는 한국 사례를 글로벌 수의학 허위정보 동향과 비교·논의함으로써 국제적 적용 가능성을 확보하였다.

영문 초록

Veterinary science is central to protecting public health, preventing zoonotic transmission, and advancing one health. Yet media portrayals remain crisis-oriented, magnifying outbreaks while neglecting preventive medicine and animal welfare, thereby undermining public veterinary literacy. a mixed-methods study of media content (n=500), a national survey (n=1,000), case studies, and expert interviews found that 45% of news emphasized zoonotic crises, while only 20% covered prevention and 15% welfare, with 12% of digital outputs containing inaccuracies. regression and structural equation modelling identified media trust and education as key predictors of veterinary literacy. expert insights recommend ai-enabled misinformation monitoring, immersive learning, and targeted media-competency training. strengthening communication and cross-sector collaboration will enhance veterinary literacy, improve one health outcomes, and reduce misinformation’s societal impact.
