청소년의 일반적 범죄 두려움과 구체적 범죄 두려움의 비교 연구

국문 초록

범죄 두려움은 국가가 국민의 안전을 측정할 수 있는 가장 기본적인 도구이다. 이에 수많은 범죄학자는 범죄 두려움의 원인을 규명하고자 끊임없이 연구를 수행하고 있다. 범죄 두려움의 선행 연구에서는 범죄 두려움을 노인, 여성, 1인 가구 등 그 대상을 특정하여 연구를 수행하였다. 그리고 범죄 두려움의 원인에 있어서 피해 경험, 취약성, 경찰 활동, 무질서 등 여러 요인을 중심으로도 연구가 수행되었다. 하지만 청소년에게 미치는 범죄 두려움에 관한 연구는 다소 제한적이다. 이에 이 연구에서는 청소년의 범죄 두려움을 일반적 상황에서 느끼는 일반적 범죄 두려움과 구체적 범죄유형에 따른 구체적 범죄 두려움을 비교하여 연구하였다. 청소년의 범죄 두려움을 일반적 범죄 두려움과 구체적 범죄 두려움을 비교하는 점은 청소년의 특성상 활동 반경이 넓지 않으며, 특정 범죄에 다소 높은 범죄 노출이 있기 때문이다. 이러한 연구 목적을 달성하고자 한국형사법무정책연구원에서 수행한 ‘2020 전국 범죄 피해 조사 데이터’ 중 10대 청소년을 중심으로 분석 자료로 활용하였다. 본 연구의 조사 대상은 10대 청소년이 응답한 599 자료를 본 연구의 자료로 활용하였다. 본 연구에서 사용한 10대 남성 청소년은 305명이며, 10대 여성 청소년은 294명으로 조사되었다. 본 연구의 분석에 있어서는 인구 사회학적 특성을 확인하고자 빈도분석을 실시하였으며, 측정 변수의 신뢰도와 타당도를 분석하였다. 그리고 본 연구에서 사용한 변수의 기술통계 분석, 상관관계 분석, 그리고 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 10대 청소년의 일반적 범죄 두려움에 미치는 요인으로는 지역의 환경적 요인과 개인적 요인 중 범죄 취약성이 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 10대 청소년의 구체적 범죄 두려움에 미치는 요인으로는 지역의 환경적 요인 중에서 물리적 무질서를 제외한 모든 요인이 영향을 미치며, 개인적 요인으로는 범죄 소식과 범죄 취약성이 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과는 10대 청소년의 경우에는 일반적인 상황에서 느끼는 범죄 두려움과 범죄 유형에 따른 범죄 두려움의 차이가 있으며 이에 따른 경찰의 범죄 두려움에 관한 정책이 제시될 필요가 있다는 것을 보여주고 있다.

영문 초록

Fear of crime is the most basic tool that a country can use to measure the safety of its citizens. Accordingly, many criminologists are constantly conducting research to identify the causes of fear of crime. In previous studies on fear of crime, research was conducted by targeting specific groups such as the elderly, women, and single-person households. Research was also conducted on various factors such as victim experience, vulnerability, police activities, and disorder as causes of fear of crime. However, research on the fear of crime in adolescents is somewhat limited. Therefore, this study compared adolescents’ fear of crime by comparing the general fear of crime felt in general situations with the specific fear of crime according to specific types of crime. The reason for comparing youth's fear of crime to general fear of crime and specific fear of crime is that youth's activity radius is limited and they have a relatively high exposure to specific crimes. To achieve this research objective, the 2020 National Crime Victimization Survey data conducted by the Korean Institute of Criminology was used as analysis data, focusing on teenagers. This study utilized data from 599 respondents in their teens. The survey included 305 male and 294 female adolescents. Frequency analysis was conducted to identify demographic characteristics, and reliability and validity of the measured variables were assessed. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were also performed on the variables used in the study. The analysis results showed that regional environmental factors and personal factors, including vulnerability to crime, were influential factors in the general fear of crime among teenagers. And, as for the factors affecting the specific fear of crime of teenagers, all factors except physical disorder among the environmental factors of the region were found to have an effect, and as for personal factors, crime news and vulnerability to crime had an effect. These research results show that in the case of teenagers, there is a difference between the fear of crime felt in general situations and the fear of crime according to the type of crime, and that it is necessary to present a policy on the fear of crime of the police accordingly.
