국문 초록

류성룡은 16세기 조선의 유학자이자 사대부(士大夫)이다. 그는 유학사상의사랑과 공경사상의 가치관을 일관되게 자신의 것으로 내면화시켰던 ‘수경행권(守經行權)’의 경세가이다. 그는 유학사상이 지향하는 기본적 가치인 ‘수기치인(修己治人)’과 ‘성기성물(成己成物)’을 끊임없이 수양 공부함으로써 그는 나라와 백성을 위해 섬김의 지도자로 성장 발전한다. 섬김과 헌신은 서번트 리더십의 핵심 속성이다. 류성룡은 서번트 리더십(servant leadership)으로 전쟁의 위기에 처한 나라와백성들을 구해낸 지도자이다. 그는 투철한 책임감과 지극한 정성의 서번트 리더십으로 누란(累卵)의 위기에 처한 국가를 구해내었다. 그의 서번트 리더십은무욕 무사, 철저한 책임감과 의로움의 가치지향, 성실함과 우국충정으로 갖춰져 있다. 그의 서번트 리더십은 유학사상의 수기치인 및 성기성물의 지향을 포용하고 있다. 그러한 지향과 실천은 왜적으로부터 조선 산하를 수호하고 백성들의 생명을 지켜낼 용기와 열정으로 가득차 있다. 류성룡은 서번트 리더로서 이같은 성실성과 헌신으로 국가 붕괴와 피지배가능성을 극복해 내었다. 절제 절명의 위기에 처한 전쟁 상황에서 갖가지 전략전술을 수립하고 군량미를 확보한다. 국가의 재상이자 전쟁 총괄자로서 명군(明軍)과의 교섭 또한 헌신적으로 통할한다. 군국기무의 대설계를 입안하고 이를 전쟁 수행에 적용한다. 나라와 백성의 안위만을 우선시했던 ‘위기 관리 및국난극복의 리더’로서 혼신의 힘을 쏟는다. 그리하여 굴욕 및 실패의 위험을무릎쓰고 임진왜란을 승리로 이끌어 수성과 도전의 섬김 리더십을 창출하고실현해 내었던 것이다.

영문 초록

Ryu Seong-ryong (1542-1607) was a Confucian scholar and nobleman(士大夫) of Joseon in the 16th century. He is a leader of the “Sugyung Hyunggwyon(守經行權)” that consistently internalized the love of Confucianism and the values of respectful thought into his own. He grows and develops into a leader of service for the country and the people by constantly studying the basic values of Confucianism, “Sugichin(修己治人)” and “Seonggi Seongmul(成己成物)” Serving and dedication are key attributes of servant leadership. Ryu Seong-ryong is a leader who saved countries and people in danger of war through servant leadership. He saved a country in crisis of yellow with a strong sense of responsibility and extreme sincerity. His servant leadership is equipped with no desire, a thorough sense of responsibility and righteousness value orientation, sincerity and patriotism. His servant leadership embraces the orientation of handicrafts and genitals in Confucianism. Such orientation and practice are full of courage and passion to protect the Joseon Dynasty from Japanese invaders and protect the lives of the people. Ryu Seong-ryong, as a servant leader, overcame the possibility of national collapse and domination with such sincerity and dedication. Establish various strategic tactics and secure military beauty in a war situation in danger of moderation. As the state’s prime minister and war general, negotiations with Mingun also work devotedly. The grand design of military service is drafted and applied to the execution of the war. As a “leader of crisis management and overcoming national difficulties,” who prioritized only the safety of the country and the people, he puts all his energy into it. Thus, at the risk of humiliation and failure, he led the Imjin War(壬辰倭亂) to victory, creating and realizing leadership in protecting and challenging.
