국문 초록

본 논문은 디지털 환경에서 숏폼 콘텐츠의 범람과 생성형 AI의 확산이 저널리즘의 형식과 기자의 정체성에 초래한 변화에 주목하며, 이러한 맥락 속에서 프랑스 무크(mook) 저널리즘의 부상과 그 함의를 고찰한다. 무크는 단행본과 잡지의 경계를 넘나드는 하이브리드 매체로, 프랑스 르포르타주 전통을 현대적으로 계승하면서도, 광고 배제, 느린 제작, 시각적 실험 등을 통해 기존 언론과의 차별성을 드러낸다. 본 연구는 프랑스의 주요 무크 사례에 대한 질적 분석을 통해, 무크가 정보 과잉 시대 속 ‘의미 생성자’로서의 기자 정체성을 복원하고, AI 시대 대안 저널리즘으로 기능할 가능성을 제시한다.

영문 초록

This paper examines the rise and implications of French mook journalism in the context of changes in journalistic forms and the identity of journalists brought about by the proliferation of short-form content and technological developments in the digital environment. Mooks are hybrid media that cross the boundaries between books and magazines. They inherit the tradition of grand reportage and literary storytelling in French journalism while attempting to break away from conventional media through the exclusion of advertising, slow production cycles, and visual experimentation. Based on a qualitative analysis of major French mook cases, this study suggests that mooks restore the journalist’s identity as a “creator of meaning” in an age of information overload and indicate their potential to function as alternative journalism in the AI era.
