학술 논문 인용문의 수사적 기능별 저자 입장 분석 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 한국어교육 분야 학술 논문에 나타난 인용문의 수사적 기능을 중심으로, 저자의 입장 구성 양상을 분석하는 데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 한국어교육 관련 학술지 논문 19편에서 총 694개의 인용문을 추출하고, 진춘기·양길류(2024)가 제시한 13가지 인용문의 수사적 기능에 따라 분류한 뒤, 각 기능별로 나타난 저자의 입장을 분석하였다. 저자 입장의 분석은 Coffin(2009)의 입장 분류와 Martin & White(2003)의 평가어 이론(Appraisal Theory)을 토대로 한 분석틀을 활용하였다. 분석 결과, 전체 인용문 중 ‘객체화’ 입장이 가장 높게 나타났으며, 주로 선행 연구의 사실을 중립적으로 기술하는 기능에서 두드러졌다. 반면, 연구 필요성 제기나 논지 강화와 관련된 기능에서는 ‘인정’ 입장이 뚜렷하게 나타났고, 일부 기능에서는 ‘이의 제기’ 입장이 선택적으로 활용되었다. 또한 수사적 기능에 따라 저자 입장을 드러내기 위해 사용되는 인용 동사, 시제, 인용 형식 등의 언어적 특징도 상이하게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 수사적 기능에 따라 인용문 속 저자 입장 및 그 구성 양상이 일정한 경향성을 보인다는 점을 확인시켜 준다. 본 연구는 학문 목적 한국어 학습자를 위한 인용문 교육에 실질적인 시사점을 제공하며, 수사적 기능과 저자 입장을 통합적으로 고찰함으로써 인용문 연구에 새로운 방향을 제시하였다는 점에 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study examines patterns of stance construction by analyzing the rhetorical functions of citation in Korean research articles in the field of Korean language education. A total of 694 citations were extracted from 19 Korean research articles published in journals related to Korean language education. These citations were classified according to the 13 rhetorical functions of citation proposed by Chen & Yang(2024). Authors’ stance for each function was then analyzed using a framework based on Coffin’s (2009) stance taxonomy and Martin & White’s (2005) Appraisal Theory. The analysis revealed that the stance of objectification was the most prevalent among all citation instances, particularly in functions that describe prior research findings in a neutral manner. In contrast, functions associated with establishing research necessity or reinforcing argumentation manifested a clear stance of acknowledgement, while a stance of challenge was selectively employed in certain functions. Moreover, linguistic features such as the reporting verb, tense, and citation format varied systematically according to rhetorical functions. These findings demonstrate that authors’ stance and its construction through citation exhibit consistent patterns depending on rhetorical functions. This study provides practical implications for teaching citation to learners of Korean for academic purposes and offers a new direction for research on citation by integrating rhetorical functions and authors’ stance.
