국문 초록

본 논문은 프란치스코 교황이 2025년 정기 희년을 선포하며 발표한 칙서「희망은 우리를 부끄럽게 하지 않습니다」(Spes non confundit)의 신학적 메시지를 생태신학의 관점에서 해석하고, 교회의 실천적 과제를 성찰하는 데 목적이 있다. 교황은 구조적 절망의시대에 희망을 단순한 심리적 위안이 아니라, 고통과 불의를 직면하고 회복과 회개의 여정으로 나아가는 실존적 결단으로 제시한다. 이 글은 희년의 성경적 전통을 토대로 모든피조물을 위한 희년 개념을 확장하며, 생태적 빚, 구조적 폭력, 생태적 회개 등 현대 생태위기의 윤리적·신학적 의미를 분석한다. 특히 ‘깊은 육화’ 신학에 대한 비판적 담론을 검토하고, 교회 교도권의 가르침 및 현대 신학과의 조화를 통해 하느님의 내재성과 피조물과의 연대성에 대한 신학적 정당성을 제시한다. 이를 통해 본 논문은 희년 정신을 생태정의와 우주적 친교의 실천으로 재해석하고, 교회가 시대의 징표에 응답할 수 있는 생태적 희망의 신학을 제안하고자 한다.

영문 초록

This paper explores Pope Francis’ 2025 Jubilee Apostolic Letter, Spes non confundit (“Hope does not disappoint”), through the lens of ecological theology, aiming to examine its theological significance and propose practical directions for the Church. In an age marked by structural despair stemming from ecological crisis, socioeconomic inequality, and human alienation, the Pope redefines hope not as mere optimism but as a salvific journey grounded in repentance and the restoration of justice. Drawing on biblical traditions of sabbath and jubilee, this study extends the scope of jubilee to include all creation and addresses contemporary issues such as ecological debt, structural violence, and ecological conversion. Particular attention is given to the theology of “deep incarnation,” responding to criticisms by reaffirming the theological legitimacy of God's immanence and solidarity with suffering creatures, as articulated in magisterial documents and ecological theology. Ultimately, this paper seeks to reinterpret the Jubilee spirit as a theological vision of ecological justice and cosmic communion, offering an eschatological horizon of hope that calls the Church to respond prophetically to the signs of the times.
