기업의 탄소생산성 결정 요인 분석: 한국의 배출권 거래제 도입 이후

국문 초록

한국의 탄소배출권거래제 도입 효과에 대해서는 국내에서 다양한 분석이 이루어지고 있지만 탄소생산성 과의 관계에 대한 분석은 많지 않다. 탄소생산성은 탄소배출량 단위당 창출되는 경제적 가치를 말하는 것으로, 고탄소 제조업 비중이 높은 한국에서 국가의 환경정책은 탄소배출량뿐만 아니라 탄소배출량 대비 경제적 효율성을 고려한 탄소생산성과 같은 수치로 평가될 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 탄소배출권거래 제 도입 후 기업의 탄소생산성을 결정하는 요인을 조사했다. 연구 결과에 따르면, 기존에 에너지를 많이 사용하던 기업은 탄소생산성과 음의 상관관계를 보였고, 기업의 자산이 클 수록 탄소생산성이 증가하는 효과가 있었던 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 정부의 정책 효과를 평가함에 있어서 탄소의 절대량이 아닌 경제성을 포함한 탄소생산성이라는 개념을 통해 보다 실질적인 정책 효과를 도출해낼 수 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

While there are various analyses on the effects of the introduction of Korea’s carbon emissions trading system, there has been little analysis on the relationship with carbon productivity. Carbon productivity refers to the economic value produced per unit of carbon emissions. In Korea, where the proportion of high-carbon manufacturing industries is high, environmental policies of a country should be evaluated not only by carbon emissions but also by figures such as carbon productivity, which consider economic efficiency compared to carbon emissions. This study investigated the factors that determine the carbon productivity of companies after the introduction of the carbon emissions trading system. According to the results of the study, companies that previously used a lot of energy showed a negative relationship with carbon productivity, and carbon productivity increased as the company’s assets increased. These results suggest that it is necessary to derive more practical policy effects through the concept of carbon productivity that includes economic feasibility rather than the absolute amount of carbon.
