국문 초록

본 연구는 10년 이상 공황을 동반한 불안, 우울, 대인관계의 어려움을 겪은 40대 여성 내담자를 대상으로, 미술치료(콜라주, 덧칠)를 활용한 사례개념화 기반 초기면접의 경험을 탐색하였다. 이는 언어적 방어와 제한된 정보 등 기존 초기면접의 한계를 극복하고, 내담자에 대한 심리적 이해 및 변화 촉진에 기여하고자 한 것이다. 주요 연구문제는 미술치료를 활용한 사례개념화 기반 초기면접이 상담관계 형성, 주호소문제 이해, 상담목표(합의목표 및 임상목표) 설정과 변화에 있어 내담자의 경험이 어떠했는가이다. 단일 사례연구 설계를 적용하였으며, 사례개념화 모형을 기반으로 한 접수면접(MMPI-2, SCT, TCI 검사 결과 해석 포함)과 초기면접(1회기 및 2회기)에 대한 경험을 심층 인터뷰하여 질적 분석을 수행하였다. 연구의 결과, 미술치료를 활용한 사례개념화 기반 초기면접은 상담관계 형성, 주호소문제의 이해, 상담목표 설정 및 변화에 매우 긍정적인 것으로 드러났다. 특히 콜라주와 덧칠 작업은 복잡한 감정의 시각화와 정리에 도움을 주었으며, 억압된 분노가 내면의 ‘강한 기준’에서 기인함을 자각하는 데 기여하였다. 기존 초기면접의 한계(언어적 방어, 제한된 정보)를 극복하고 내담자의 심리 이해 및 변화 촉진에 기여한 이 초기면접의 연구 결과를 토대로, 상담 현장에 주는 시사점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study explored the experience of an initial counseling interview based on case conceptualization using art therapy techniques (collage and layering painting) with a woman in her 40s who had suffered from anxiety accompanied by panic, depression, and interpersonal difficulties for over ten years. The study aimed to overcome the limitations of traditional initial interviews, such as verbal defenses and limited information, to enhance psychological understanding and facilitate client change. The main research question was what the client's experience was regarding the formation of the counseling relationship, the understanding of the chief complaint, and the setting and change of counseling goals(agreed-upon goals and clinical goals) when utilizing case conceptualization-based art therapy in initial interviews. This study applied a single-case study design and conducted a qualitative analysis through in-depth interviews regarding experiences of the intake interview—including interpretation of MMPI-2, SCT, and TCI assessment results—and the initial interviews (sessions 1 and 2), based on a case conceptualization model. The research findings revealed that the case conceptualization-based initial interview utilizing art therapy had a highly positive effect on counseling relationship formation, understanding of the client’s chief complaints, as well as the setting and change of counseling goals. Notably, the use of collage and layering painting assisted in visualizing and organizing complex emotions, helping the client recognize repressed anger stemming from an inner “strong standard.” Based on the research findings of this initial interview, which contributed to overcoming the limitations of traditional initial interviews(such as verbal defenses and limited information) and facilitating the client's psychological understanding and change, implications for counseling practice were discussed.
