탈진실 시대, 새드엔딩 드라마의 사회적 기능 연구: 드라마 <공작도시>를 중심으로

국문 초록

탈진실 시대의 드라마는 기존 근대 시대의 보편적 가치와 정서를 전복한다. 이에 본 연구는 브라이언 마수미의 정동정치를 통해 드라마 <공작도시>를 분석함으로써 드라마 사회적 기능을 확인하고자 하였다. 스피노자에서 비롯되어 들뢰즈를 경유한 브라이언 마수미는 정동을 감정이 되기 이전의 신체적 반응이라고 정의하며 비언어적이며 비재현적인 것이라고 하였다. 더불어 그는 모든 존재가 정동한다고 보았으며 정동되고 정동하는 것을 중시하였다. 따라서 정동의 마주침과 강렬도 그리고 정동의 경향성과 관계성을 중시한다. 이는 정동에 정치가 작동한다는 것을 의미한다. 연구결과, 드라마 <공작도시>에서 주인공 윤재희는 부와 권력에 정동된 인물임을 파악하였다. 이는 청렴한 판사 아버지를 둔 윤재희의 어린 시절이 가난했던 것과 기득권 세력의 성상납 요구에서 기인한다. 그러나 윤재희의 욕망 정동은 형산동 참사 피해자 김이설과 마주침으로 균열되고, 정동의 강렬도가 최대치에 이르는 김이설 추락사를 목격함으로써 도덕적·윤리적 정동을 회복한 것으로 확인되었다. 이때, 김이설에 대한 연민의 정서가 주효하였다. 하지만 윤재희는 정동 정치에 능한 서한숙을 극복하지 못함으로써 새드엔딩으로 서사가 완결됨을 파악하였다. 본 연구는 윤재희의 욕망이 권력 생산과 유지에 기여하고 있음을 확인하였다는 점과 서사의 마지막에서 윤재희의 새로운 정동의 접속 가능성을 보여주었다는 점에서 유의미하다고 할 것이다.

영문 초록

In the post-truth era, drama overturns the universal values and affective sensibilities of modernity. On this basis, the present study employs Brian Massumi’s politics of affect to examine Artificial City and to clarify drama’s social function. Massumi, drawing from Spinoza and developed through Deleuze, defines affect as bodily responses prior to becoming emotions, emphasizing the non-verbal and non-representational. He values the process of being affected and affecting others, highlighting the importance of encounters, intensity, and the tendency and relationality of affects. This implies that politics operates within s.The results of the study indicate that in the drama , the protagonist Yoon Jae-hee is an individual affected by wealth and power. This is attributed to her impoverished childhood despite having a father who was an incorruptible judge, and the demands for sexual favors proposed by the vested powers. However, Yoon Jae-hee's desire affects are disrupted through her encounter with Kim Yi-seol, a victim of the Hyeongsandong disaster, and witnessing Kim Yi-seol's fall, which maximizes the intensity of the affect, leading to a recovery of moral and ethical affects. The emotion of empathy towards Kim Yi-seol played a crucial role in this recovery. Nonetheless, Yoon Jae-hee is unable to overcome Seo Han-sook, who is skilled in the politics of affect, resulting in a sad ending to the narrative. This study is significant in confirming that Yoon Jae-hee's desires contribute to the production and maintenance of power, and in demonstrating the potential for new affective connections at the end of the narrative.
