국문 초록

시민성 교육은 각국의 사회·문화적 맥락을 반영한 특수성에 기반해야 한 다. 이 연구는 Walzer의 ‘다원적 평등’과 Honneth의 ‘인정 이론’을 토대로 한국 사회의 특수성과 연계된 공동체주의 시민성 교육의 이론적 방향을 탐색하고자 하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 포용 교육의 실천은 공정한 사회에 대한 성찰을 기반으로 일상의 갈등을 건설적으로 해결할 수 있는 역량을 기르는 데 초점을 두어야 한다. 둘째, ‘우리’의 의미와 경계를 확장할 수 있는 교육적 접근이 요구된다. 셋째, 개인의 고유한 가치와 사회적 기여를 인정하고, 사회적 연대를 통해 불공정한 구조를 개선하 려는 시민의식을 함양할 필요가 있다. 이 연구는 한국의 실제적 맥락에서 시민성 교육 의 방향을 논의하였다는 데 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Citizenship education should be grounded in specificity that reflects the socio-cultural context of each nation. This study aimed to derive theoritical basis for communitarian citizenship curriculum connected to the specificity of Korean society, based on Walzer’s ‘Complex Equality’ and Honneth’s ‘Recognition Theory’. The research findings are as follows: First, inclusive education should focus on developing capacities to constructively resolve daily conflicts based on reflection about a just society. Second, educational approaches that can expand the meaning and boundaries of ‘we’ are required. Third, it is necessary to cultivate civic consciousness that recognizes individual unique values and social contributions, and seeks to improve unjust structures through social solidarity. This study is significant in that it explores directions for citizenship education within the practical context of Korea.
