New Year’s messages convey sincere wishes for the year ahead. Xi Jinping’s New Year’s addresses, delivered at the turn of each year, reflect the mainstream ideology of the country. They carry the aspirations of the nation for development and the people for happiness, and present Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to life. Rooted in China’s fine traditional culture, these addresses embody people-first thinking, self-reliance and self-improvement, seeking truth from facts, and the concepts of “harmony in diversity” and “global community.” They demonstrate the vitality of traditional Chinese culture and the enduring strength of Chinese civilization. They also showcase a new model of civilization distinct from the Western one, offer Chinese solutions to the world, and boost the spiritual forces driving national rejuvenation. Their ideological depth holds great significance for our times.
