국문 초록

‘킥서비스’의 <203n년> 시리즈는 미래의 극단적인 설정을 통해 사회적 이슈를 다루는 스케치 코미디이다. 이 코미디는 극단적인 설정들을 활용함으로써 풍자의 효과를 누리고, 불안을 해소하여 웃음으로 승화시키는 효과를 의도한다. 이는 사회문화적 관점에서 해당 콘텐츠가 미래에 대한 불안 의식을 그럴법한 미래상을 구현해냄으로써, 포스트-트루스(post-truth)적 태도로 미래를 읽어낼 수 있는 사회문화 리터러시로 기능함을 이해할 수 있다. 포스트 트루스는 사실과 픽션, 참과 거짓 사이의 구별이 더 이상 존재하지 않는 ‘대안적 사실(alternative fact)’들을 무수히 만들어 낸다는 특징을 갖는다. 이 점에서 ‘킥서비스’의 <203n년> 시리즈는 미래에 대한 다양한 상상과 풍자를 통해 미래에 대한 대안을 마련하고자 하는 것으로 보인다. 이 기저에는 현재 사회에서 비롯한 미래 사회에 대한 불안이 내재되어 있다. 불안의 담론을 잠재우기 위해서 <203n년> 콘텐츠에서는 1)극한의 상황을 가정함으로써 일어나지 않는 미래로 인식하기 2)과도한 설정으로 현재와 미래를 부정하기 3)진실성(truthfulness)을 부정하고 진실해보이는 것(truthiness)을 부각시키기 등의 특징들이 내재되어 있다고 진단한다. 이 특징들은 포스트-트루스적 관점과 긴밀히 연결된 콘텐츠의 방향성으로 해석해도 좋다. ‘킥서비스’의 <203n년> 시리즈는 어느 면에서 장난스러운 내용으로 보이기도 한다. 이는 현실과 너무 멀어보이는 설정 탓에 일차적으로 드는 생각이기도 할 것이다. 하지만 지젝이 말하듯, 새로운 방식으로 ‘가능한 것’과 ‘불가능한 것’ 사이의 경계를 흐려버리게 하여 재정의(redefine)하는 미래가 필요하다. 그런 의미에서 ‘킥서비스’의 <203n년> 시리즈는 현실의 경계를 흐려버리게 만드는 재사유(rethink)의 가능성을 기대하게 한다.

영문 초록

The <203n Series> of Kick Service is a sketch comedy addressing social issues through extreme scenarios. This comedy aims to achieve satirical effects and transform anxiety into humor, by employing exaggerated settings. From a sociocultural perspective, this content may be interpreted as a form of sociocultural literacy in that it materializes plausible futuristic scenarios to embody prevailing anxieties, thereby facilitating a post-truth mode of engaging with the future. Post-truth is characterized by creating numerous “alternative facts” where distinctions between fact and fiction, truth and falsehood, cease to exist. Hence, the <203n Series> of the Kick Service intends to propose an alternative future through various imaginations and satires of what lies ahead. This endeavor stems from the current social landscape and the anxiety about future society. To mitigate the discourse on anxiety, the content of the <203n Series> comprises three key features: (1) framing extreme situations and perceiving them as unlikely future, (2) employing excessive settings and negating both the present and future, and (3) denying truthfulness while emphasizing truthiness. These characteristics align closely with the direction of the content shaped by the post-truth paradigm. Initially, the <203n Series> of Kick Service may appear playful or frivolous, however, this perception arises from its seemingly far-fetched premise. However, as Žižek suggests, a future redefining the boundaries between the “possible” and the “impossible” in novel ways is necessary. Thus, the <203n Series> of Kick Service offers the potential for reconsidering by blurring the boundaries of reality and inviting audiences to imagine anew.
