국문 초록

이 논문은 고지도와 기록화에 나타난 강원도의 역사와 문화적 특성을 종합적으로 분석함으로써, 지역의 공간적 위상과 정체성을 규명하는 데 주안점을 두었다. 먼저 『동여비고』에 구현된 강원도의 지리적 변화를 분석함으로써, 삼한시대부터 17세기 말까지의 역사적 흐름을 통합적으로 조망하였다. 기존에는 주로 『삼국사기』, 『고려사』, 『신증동국여지승람』 등 문헌에 의존해왔던 강원도 지역의 역사 지리를 고지도와 비교·검토한 점에서 그 의의가 크다. 또한 조선 후기 강원도의 군현도, 도별도, 특수지도를 활용해 준경묘와 영경묘, 단종 관련 유적, 태실 등 조선 왕실 관련 유적지와 사적지를 다각도로 고찰하였다. 아울러 관동의 명승과 금강산의 승경지가 지도상에서 어떻게 표현되었는지를 분석해, 지역 문화와 자연경관의 역사적 위상을 밝히려 하였다.

영문 초록

This study aims to identify the spatial significance and regional identity of Gangwon Province by comprehensively analyzing its historical and cultural characteristics as represented in old maps and pictorial records. First, it examines the geographical changes of Gangwon Province as depicted in the Dongyeobigo, providing an integrated perspective on historical developments from the Samhan period to the late 17th century. The study is particularly meaningful in that it supplements traditional reliance on textual sources such as the Samguk Sagi, Goryeosa, and Sinjeung Dongguk Yeoji Seungnam by comparing and analyzing these accounts alongside historical maps. Furthermore, it investigates various royal sites and historical relics—such as Junkyeongmyo, Yeonggyeongmyo, sites related to King Danjong, and royal placenta chambers—through provincial and specialized Gangwon Province maps of late Joseon. Lastly, it explores how the scenic sites of Kwandong and Geumgangsan were represented on maps, highlighting their historical importance as cultural and natural landmarks of the region.
