예비유아교사의 외국인 유학생에 대한 기대, 우려 및 해결책 탐구: 포토보이스 방법론으로

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 예비유아교사가 외국인 유학생에 대해 지니고 있는 기대와 우려, 그리고 우려에 대한 해결책을 포토보이스 방법론을 활용하여 탐색하는 것이다. 본 연구참여자인 예비유아교사 7명이 포토보이스 활동으로 추출한 의미에서 첫 번째로 외국인 유학생에 대한 기대는 ‘설레는 경험’,과 ‘성장의 도우미’로 명명하여, 나와 다른 문화적 배경의 외국인 유학생을 긍정적으로 바라보고 외국인 유학생을 통해 자신이 성장할 수 있다는 기대를 표현하였다. 두 번째로 외국인 유학생에 대한 우려는 ‘배려에 대한 부담’과 ‘보이는 벽에 대한 도전’으로 의미화하여 외국인 유학생에 대해 일방적으로 양보해야 할 것 같은 분위기에 대한 심리적 불편감과 언어 및 의사소통의 어려움에서 발생하는 실제적 문제를 표현하였다. 외국인 유학생에 대한 우려의 해결책으로 모색한 방안은 ‘있는 그대로 받아들이기’와 ‘함께 하는 파트너’로 나타내어 외국인 유학생의 존재 그 자체로 수용하고 외국인 유학생과 함께 하는 관계 중심의 수용을 하는 것이었다. 본 연구는 예비유아교사가 외국인 유학생에 대한 인식을 스스로 표현하고 성찰하는 기회가 되었으며, 예비유아교사를 위한 다문화교육에의 시사점을 도출하였다.

영문 초록

This study explores the expectations, concerns, and possible solutions of pre-service early childhood teachers regarding international students, using the photovoice methodology. The seven participants shared their perspectives through photographs and narratives. Expectations were named as “An Exciting Experience” and “A Helper for Growth”, reflecting a positive view of cultural differences as opportunities for learning and self-development. Concerns were expressed as “The burden of Consideration” and “Challenge to Visible Barriers”, referring to psychological discomfort and difficulties in communication. Solutions were identified as “Accepting as They Are” and “The Partner of Being Together”, emphasizing inclusion through acceptance and shared experiences. The study offered participants opportunities for multicultural reflection and provides insights for multicultural education in teacher training programs.
