국문 초록

2022 개정 교육과정에 따라 검정과정을 마친 9종의 고등학교 “한국사” 교과서를 대상으로 북한사와 남북관계사 서술의 주요 특징을 분석하였다. 북한사 서술의 경우, 북한 정권 수립의 배경에 해당하는 소련 군정기가 배제되었으며, 전반적으로 부정적 관점에 입각한 비판적 서술 경향을 띤 것으로 파악된다. 특히 ‘3대 세습체제’와 경제의 낙후성 및 한계를 중심으로 비판점이 형성되었다. 이같은 서술 경향은 학계의 연구성과 및 관심 주제의 반영이라기보다 한국 사회의 보편적 관심사안을 반영한 것으로 해석된다. 남북관계사 서술의 경우, 남북 상호작용에 의한 원인보다 주로 남한 정부의 노력에 의한 결과라는 관점에서 이루어졌다. 또한 긍정적 의미 부여가 가능한 남북대화의 성과, 즉 역대 남북간의 주요 합의를 중심으로 한 서술 패턴이 고정화 된 것으로 나타났다. 남북관계의 진퇴 양상과 그 이유 등에 대한 종합적, 입체적 서술은 상대적으로 부족하였다. 9종 교과서 모두 민간 차원의 통일운동사와 시대별 통일논의에 대해서는 거의 다루지 않았다. 분단 극복을 위해 그동안 정부 당국과 민간 차원에서 함께 노력하고 상호 경쟁, 보완해온 역사적 경험을 고려하지 않은 서술이라고 할 수 있다. 이같은 특징들을 고려할 때, 2022 개정 고등학교 한국사 교과서의 출판사별 특성의 차이는 미미한 정도로 판단되며, 오히려 향후 교과서 검정제도의 현실적 의의에 대한 문제의식을 형성할 계기로 작용할 가능성마저 있는 것으로 보인다.

영문 초록

This paper analyzed the history of North Korea and inter-Korean relations among the contents of high school Korean history textbooks written according to the 2022 curriculum. As a result, the characteristic of the narrative of North Korean history is that the period of Soviet military rule was excluded and it was written from an overall negative perspective. This narrative trend reflects the general concerns of Korean society rather than the research achievements of related academic circles. In the case of descriptions of the history of inter-Korean relations, they were written mainly from the perspective of the results of the efforts of the South Korean government, and showed a tendency to be described focusing on major agreements between the South and the North. On the other hand, most textbooks do not describe the history of the unification movement and unification discussions. Based on these characteristics, it is judged that there is little difference in the characteristics of the revised Korean history textbooks by publisher.
