국문 초록

이 연구는 디지털 환경에서 발생하는 두 가지 현상을 파악하고 그에 대한 원인을 분석하고자 기획되었다. 첫 번째 문제는 탈진실 현상이고 두 번째 문제는 디지털 판옵티콘 현상이다. 이 두 가지 현상은 디지털 환경에서 다양한 문제를 야기하는 주된 원인으로 지목된다. 탈진실은 가짜 뉴스, 편향된 정보의 취합과 확산, 변이된 정보 양산하는 문제들에 이르기까지 다양한 방식의 온라인 소통 문제를 발생시킨다. 디지털 판옵티콘은 디지털 정보를 통해 감시의 시스템을 구축하고 그러한 시스템을 통해 다시 정보를 유통하는 문제를 유발한다. 그 결과 사생활에 대한 감시, 자본주의적 시스템으로 통제되는 사적인 생활 감시, 정보 예속화의 문제들이 발생한다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 문제들을 조명하여 현재 우리가 처한 디지털 환경에서 발생하는 문제의 본질적인 발생 원인을 규명하고자 한다. 또 문제를 해결할 방안을 모색할 때 기술적 대안에 앞서 고려할 사항들이 무엇인지 조망한다.

영문 초록

This study was designed to identify and analyze the causes of two phenomena emerging within digital environments. The first phenomenon is the post-truth condition, and the second is the digital panopticon. Both of these phenomena have been implicated as root causes of a variety of problems in online contexts. The post-truth condition gives rise to numerous issues in digital communication ranging from the propagation of fake news and the aggregation and dissemination of biased information to the generation of mutated variants of original content. The digital panopticon, meanwhile, establishes surveillance systems via digital data, thereby engendering new forms of information control. These include the monitoring of private life, the capitalist appropriation of personal spheres of existence, and the subjugation of individuals through informational dependency. In this paper, I illuminate these phenomena in order to ascertain the fundamental origins of the challenges we face in today’s digital environment. Furthermore, we seek to diagnose the factors that must be considered when devising solutions to these problems.
