국문 초록

본 연구는 부모 간 폭력을 목격하며 성장한 연구자의 외상 후 성장 경험에 대한 자문화기술 연구이다. 이를 위하여, 연구자가 외상을 겪은 후에 스스로에 대한 성찰과 가정폭력상담원으로서의 진로 개척과 치유 과정을 내부자적이고 치유자적인 관점에서 서술하였다. 본 연구는 다수의 회상일지와 그림일기, 개인 상담 및 부부 상담 기록, 집단상담 기록 자료를 활용하였다. 연구의 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 폭력을 목격하며 경험한 외상 경험은 여러 가지 형태의 부정적인 심리적, 신체적인 증상으로 나타났다. 둘째, 외상의 경험은 아동기 및 청소년기에 국한되지 않고, 성인기 이후의 삶 전반에도 지속적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 연구자의 삶 속에 내재된 가정폭력이라는 외상 경험을 다양한 시각에서 조망하고 해석하며, 이를 삶의 일부로 인정하고 수용하는 과정을 통해 가정폭력 상담원으로서 성장하게 되었다. 본 연구의 결과는 가정폭력을 목격하며 겪은 외상 경험이 가져오는 부정적인 영향을 이해하는 데 중요한 기초자료로 활용될 것으로 예상된다. 또한, 가정폭력을 경험하는 동시대의 피해자들에게 고난과 역경을 극복할 수 있는 치유의 단서를 제공할 것으로 여겨진다.

영문 초록

The present work presented an auto-ethnographic exploration of post-traumatic growth experienced by the researcher, who was exposed to inter-parental violence during childhood. This work delves into the researcher’s self-reflection and healing journey, following traumatic experiences from the dual perspectives of both an insider and a practitioner in the field of domestic violence counseling. Drawing upon a rich body of qualitative data including retrospective journals, illustrated diaries, records from individual and couple counseling sessions, and group therapy documentation, the present work study examined the long-term psychological and existential implications of witnessing domestic violence. The key findings from the work are as follows. First, exposure to inter-parental violence manifested in various adverse psychological and somatic symptoms. Second, the effects of trauma extended beyond childhood and adolescence, continuing to influence the researcher’s adult life. Third, through a series of examination and interpretation of the trauma of domestic violence embedded in the researcher's own life, the researcher achieved personal growth and development as a domestic violence counselor.
