국문 초록

이 연구는 노인의 일상생활 자립도가 향후 여행 및 관광 활동 참여 의사에 미치는 영향을 분석함으로써 관광참여 결정 요인을 고찰하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 65세 이상 노인을 대상으로 전국 단위 표본 조사로 수행된 2023년 노인실태조사 데이터를 활용하였다. 일상생활 수행능력(Activities of Daily Living, ADL) 및 도구적 일상생활수행능력(Instrumental Activities of Daily Living, IADL)을 기반으로 기능적 자립 여부를 분류하여 향후 여행 및 관광활동 참여 의사와의 관계를 로지스틱 회귀모형을 통해 분석하였다. 그 결과, 일상생활 능력이 낮아 타인의 도움이 요구되는 노인은 향후 여행 및 관광 참여에 대한 의지가 유의하게 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 기능별 하위영역 분석에서도 이동성, 자기관리, 가사활동, 인지적 사회활동의 수행 능력이 모두 관광 참여 의사와 유의한 관련성을 나타냈다. 이는 기능적 자립역량의 저하가 관광 준비와 실행 과정 전반에 실질적인 제약 요인으로 작용할 수 있음을 시사한다. 더불어, 개인의 주관적 건강상태, 만성질환 수, 사회 및 교육활동 참여, 전자기기 활용 역량, 정보화사회 적응도 등의 개별 특성들도 향후 관광 활동 참여 결정에 영향을 줄 수 있는 잠재적 요인으로 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 노인의 기능 특성과 함께 정보 및 사회적 자원 접근 수준을 종합적으로 고려한 단계별 맞춤형 관광 서비스 기획 및 실행 방안 마련의 중요성을 뒷받침한다. 따라서, 이 연구는 관광 분야에서 노인 집단의 참여 제약을 기능적 건강 수준이라는 관점에서 조명하면서 고령자 친화적 관광 콘텐츠 개발과 서비스 운영 전략 수립을 위한 실천적 기초 자료를 제공한다.

영문 초록

This study investigates how functional independence in older adults affects their intention to participate in future travel and tourism activities, aiming to identify key determinants of travel participation. The analysis draws on the 2023 National Survey of Older Persons in Korea, a nationwide sample of individuals aged 65 and older. Based on Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL), functional independence levels were categorized and analyzed using a logistic regression model. Results indicate that older adults requiring assistance in daily life show significantly lower willingness to engage in tourism activities. Subdomain analysis revealed that limitations in mobility, self-care, household activities, and cognitive-social functioning were all significantly related to lower travel intention. This suggests that diminished functional capacity may act as a substantial constraint throughout travel preparation and execution. In addition, perceived health status, number of chronic illnesses, participation in social and educational activities, digital literacy, and adaptability to an information-oriented society also emerged as potential factors influencing travel intentions. These findings underscore the need for tailored tourism services that address both functional status and access to informational and social resources. This study provides empirical insight into the functional barriers to travel among older adults and serves as a practical foundation for the development of senior-friendly tourism content and service strategies.
