국문 초록

목격자의 진술은 범인을 특정하거나 수사 방향을 결정하는 데에 큰 역할을 한다. 사건 발생 직후 구체적이고 정확한 진술을 확보하기 위하여 목격자 기억의 왜곡을 방지할 수 있는 자기기입식 면담 기법이 개발되었으나, 진술의 양과 정확도에 초점을 맞 추어 논의되고 있어 실증적인 연구가 부족한 실정이다. 따라서 이 연구는 자기기입식 면담 기법을 국내 실무에 도입하기 위해 그 효과성을 검증하는 목적으로, 면담 유형과 라인업 내 범인 존재 유무가 목격자의 회상 정확도와 식별 정확도에 미치는 영향 을 확인하고자 하였다. 성인 100명을 대상으로 총 2회기에 걸쳐 실험을 진행하여 응답을 분석한 결과, 자기기입식 면담을 수행 한 참가자가 구조화 면담을 수행한 참가자보다 목격한 사건에 대해 더 정확하게 회상한 것으로 나타났다. 연구 결과를 통해 자 기기입식 면담 기법의 실무 적용 가능성을 논의하고, 목격자 진술 신빙성을 확보하기 위한 시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Witness statements are critical in identifying perpetrators and determining the direction of an investigation. In order to obtain specific and accurate statements immediately after the incident, self-administered interview techniques have been developed to prevent distortion of witness memory, but empirical studies are insufficient as the discussion focuses on the quantity and accuracy of statements. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the effects of interview types and Target Present/Absent in the lineup on eyewitness recall accuracy and identification accuracy, with the aim of validating the effectiveness of the self-administered interview technique in order to introduce it into domestic practice. After analyzing the responses of 100 adults in two rounds of experiments, the results showed that participants who completed the self-administered interview showed higher recall accuracy than those who completed the structured interview. The results of the study discuss the practical applicability of the self-administered interview technique and provide implications for ensuring the credibility of eyewitness statement.
