국문 초록
This study used the 2020 Korean Media Panel Survey to analyze the effect of critical media analysis ability and the ability to use smart phones on internet fact-checking ability, in response to changes in the media environment that are raising the importance of the ability to respond sensibly and discern the information delivered by the media. In addition, based on the results of previous studies, we analyzed whether an individual's need for cognition acts as a moderating variable in the critical acceptance of information.
The research results are as follows. First, the ability to use smart phone and cognitive desire were found to have a positive influence on the ability to check Internet facts. Second, critical media analysis ability was found to have a positive influence on Internet fact-checking ability. Lastly, as a result of analyzing whether the need for cognition moderates the effect of critical media analysis ability on Internet fact-checking ability, it was revealed that there was a significant moderating effect in two sub-factors: media content classification ability and media message analysis ability.
As a result of the research, it was possible to conclude that in order to increase media consumers' ability to accept critical information, it is necessary to develop the habit of conscious thinking by improving media consumers' the need for cognition along with training to develop critical media analysis skills.
