국문 초록

This study analyzes the characteristics of digital learning spaces in academic libraries to provide design guidelines for future library planning. As universities undergo digital transformation, academic libraries are evolving from traditional collection-focused spaces to technology-enhanced learning hubs that integrate visualization, creation, and instruction functions. The research examines 5 representative cases: D.H. Hill Jr. Library and James B. Hunt Jr. Library at NC State University, Charles Library at Temple University, James Branch Cabell Library at Virginia Commonwealth University, and Odegaard Undergraduate Library at University of Washington. Using the LSV (Large-scale Visualization), CRE (Creation), and TEI (Technology-Enabled Instruction) classification framework, this study analyzes spatial configurations, technological implementations, and operational strategies through secondary data collection from official websites, press releases, and architectural portfolios. The analysis reveals distinct characteristics for each space type: LSV spaces feature immersive display technologies such as curved screens and LED video walls for collaborative data visualization; CRE spaces incorporate makerspaces with 3D printing, laser cutting, and VR/AR equipment for creative production; TEI spaces provide flexible furniture and wireless presentation systems for active learning environments. The study identifies key design principles including modular spatial configuration, technology integration strategies, user-centered design approaches, and unified service models. The findings demonstrate that successful digital learning spaces require systematic integration of physical space, technology infrastructure, and service operations rather than merely introducing advanced equipment.
