국문 초록

여성영웅소설은 조선 후기 영웅소설의 자장 안에서 탄생한 대중소설로, 여주인공이 남성적 젠더의 수행을 통해 가족이 처한 고난을 극복하고 정혼자와 결합한다는 내용을 핵심으로 하는 서사이다. 웹소설은 2010년대 중반 이후에 성행한 웹 기반의 대중소설로서 그 하위 장르인 로맨스 판타지는 현실에서 결여를 가진 여주인공이 환상적인 소설적 장치를 통해 새로운 세계로 진입하여 고난을 극복하고 사랑과 명예, 성공을 이룬다는 서사가 뼈대가 된다. 여성영웅소설과 로맨스 판타지는 모두 대중소설로서 여성 독자의 욕망과 환상을 반영하고 있으며, 구체적으로 다음과 같은 공통점과 차이점을 지닌다. 우선 두 장르의 주인공은 하나의 세계가 아니라 둘 이상의 다층적 세계에 속에 있다. 여성영웅은 남장을 통해 여성젠더를 수행하는 세계와 남성젠더를 수행하는 세계를 함께 살아가며, 로맨스 판타지의 여주인공은 회귀·빙의·환생을 통해 과거와 현재를 함께 살아간다. 주인공들은 이에 따라 남성과 여성, 혹은 한국인과 외국인 등의 다중적 정체성을 가지게 된다. 한편 두 장르의 주인공에게는 다른 세계로 진입했다가 본래의 세계로 돌아올 가능성을 가진다는 공통점이 있다. 여성영웅은 정혼자와의 혼인을 통해 최종적으로 자신이 출발한 규방으로 귀환하게 되지만 로맨스 판타지의 주인공은 행복을 찾아 환상의 세계에 그대로 남는 선택을 하게 된다. 여성영웅의 귀환이 당대 여성독자의 욕망을 기존의 사회 질서 내에 순치하는 역할을 했다면 로맨스 판타지 주인공의 선택은 여성 독자들의 불만과 좌절을 상상적으로 충족시키는 역할을 하고 있다. 끝으로 두 장르에서 가부장제에서 이탈하거나 가부장제를 해체하려는 시도는 종종 모순적인 의도와 공존하고 있다. 여성영웅소설의 경우 그것은 가부장의 부재를 통해 얻은 해방의 가능성과 역량을 가부장의 권위를 복원하는 데 사용하고 결국 여성은 원점으로 돌아가게 된다는 것이고, 로맨스 판타지의 경우 그것은 여주인공이 가부장의 권위를 해체하면서도 가부장의 권위의 근원이 되는 물질적 조건을 포기하지 않고 향유한다는 것이다.

영문 초록

The heroine novels is a popular novel that was born under the influence of hero novels in the late Joseon Dynasty, and is a narrative about the heroine who overcomes the hardships faced by her family and marries with the fiance through the performance of male gender. Web novels are web-based popular novels that have been popular since the mid-2010s, and romance fantasy, a sub-genre of which is a narrative that the heroine, who lacks in reality, enters a new world through fantastic novelistic devices to overcome hardships and achieve love, honor, and success. Both heroine novels and romance fantasy are popular novels that reflect the desires and fantasies of female readers in particular, and specifically have the following commonalities and differences. First of all, the protagonists of the two genres are not in one world, but in two or more multi-layered worlds. Female hero lives in the the domain of female gender and of male gender by man disguise, and the heroine of romance fantasy lives in the past and present through past travel, possession, and reincarnation. Accordingly, the protagonists have multiple identities, such as men and women, or Koreans and foreigners. On the other hand, the two genres have a common possibility that the protagonist enters another world and returns to the original world. The marriage eventually makes heroine return to the limited space for women, where she started, but the protagonist of the romance fantasy finds happiness and makes the choice to remain in the fantasy world through marriage. While the return of heroine played a role in taming the desires of female readers in the late Joseon Dynasty within the social order, the choice of the romance fantasy protagonist plays a role in imaginatively satisfying the grievances and frustrations of female readers. Finally, attempts to break away from patriarchy or dismantle patriarchy in the two genres often coexist with contradictory intentions. In the case of heroine novels, it uses the possibility and capabilities of liberation gained through the absence of the patriarch to restore the his authority, and the female protagonist of romance fantasy enjoys the material conditions that are the source of the patriarch's authority without giving up.
