국문 초록

본 논문은 한국 사회에서 사회공정성 인식 및 공정성 유형 인식이 집단 간 불평등 인식에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석한다. 공정성은 분배, 절차, 상호작용, 조건 등 다양한 차원에서 작동하며, 개인의 사회적 맥락에 따라 다르게 인식된다. 세대, 젠더, 계층, 지역, 노동 등 여러 영역에서 구조적 불평등이 지속되는 가운데, 이는 단순한 격차를 넘어 차별과 배제, 기회의 불균형으로 이어지고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 공정성 인식과 집단 간 불평등 인식간의 관계를 중심으로 분석하고, 공정성 연구를 확장하여 정책에 활용될 수 있는 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. 분석을 위해 불평등·공정성 국민패널인식조사 2개년도 자료(2023-24년)를 활용하여 패널회귀분석(응답자 간 모형)을 실시하였다. 분석결과 모든 영역에서 사회 공정성 인식은 집단 간 불평등 인식과 유의미한 음(-)의 관계를 보였으며, 공정성 유형 인식 변수는 모든 모형에서 ‘필요’ 유형이 ‘형평’ 유형에 비해 집단 간 불평등 인식 정도가 높았다. 즉, 사회 공정성 및 공정성 유형 인식이 집단 간 불평등을 판단하는 중요한 기준임을 보여주는 결과로서 이를 토대로 사회·정책적 함의를 토의하였다.

영문 초록

This study investigates how perceptions of social fairness and fairness types influence perceptions of intergroup inequality in Korea. Fairness operates across multiple dimensions—distribution, procedure, interaction, and condition—and is shaped by individuals’ social contexts. In a society where structural inequalities persist across generation, gender, class, region, and labor, fairness perceptions play a key role in how people interpret intergroup disparities. Using two waves (2023-2024) of the National Panel Survey on Perceptions of Inequality and Fairness, this study conducts a between-effects panel regression. The results show a consistent negative association between social fairness perception and perceived intergroup inequality across all domains. In addition, respondents endorsing the need-based fairness type reported higher levels of perceived inequality than those favoring equity. Based on these findings, the study discusses implications for social policy.
