국문 초록

사제 양성 교육은 이미 이천 년 교회의 역사를 통해 지속적이며 중요한 화두로서 다루어져 왔다. 특히 급변하는 시대적 상황 속에서 사제·수도 성소자 감소라는 전 세계적인 현상을 한국 교회 역시 마주하고 있으며, 미래교회에 헌신적으로 사목활동을 펼쳐야 할 신학생들의 양성을 어떻게 준비하고 교육할 것인지 심각하게 성찰해 보아야 할 시점에 도달해 있다. 특히 한국 교회 안에서 사제 양성 교육의 문제에 대해 반추해보아야 하는 중요한 이유는 지난 시간 사제 성소자의 가파른 양적 증가와 더불어 발생한 질적인 퇴보, 그리고 사제 성소를 사는 이들이 지닌 다양한 삶의 문제점들이 사제 양성 교육이라는 교과서적인 주제를 다시 한번 점검해 보기를 요청하고 있기 때문이다. 따라서 이 논고는 30여 년 대신학교에서의 사제 양성 교육 경험을 바탕으로 한국 교회가 맞닥뜨린 사제 양성 교육의 문제점에 대한 진단과 동시에 대안을 제언하고자 한다. 시대가 변하고 교회가 해야 할 역할과 임무도 시대의 요구에 따라 변화하고 있는 현실에서 사제의 역할도 다양하게 변화된 역할을 요구받고 있다. 따라서 이러한 변화에 부응하기 위한 사제의 양성이 필요하기에 사제 양성이라는 과제는 한국 교회 전 구성원들이 시급히 전면적인 성찰을 해보아야 할 주제이며, 사제 성소 지원자들이 급격하게 감소하고 있는 현실에서 양적인 양성이 아니라 질적인 양성을 통한 교회와 시대가 요구하는 사제를 양성해야 할 것이다. 또한 오늘날 교회 안에서 사제 양성은 신학교만의 책무는 아니다. 본당, 교구, 신자 모두의 협조와 관심으로 사제를 양성해야 한다는 의식이 중요하다. 따라서 사제 양성에 대한 전 교회 구성원들의 자각과 인식을 통한 변화와 쇄신이 있을 때 미래 교회에 희망이 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Priest formation has been a continuous and important topic throughout the two thousand years of church history. In particular, in the midst of rapidly changing times, the Korean church is also facing the global phenomenon of a decline in the number of priests and religious, and has reached a point where it must seriously reflect on how to prepare and educate seminarian who will devote themselves to pastoral work in the future church. In particular, the important reason we have to reflect on the issue of priest formation in the Korean church is the decline in quality of those who pursue priestly formation due to the rapid increase in the number of applicants, not to mention various problems in the lives of those who are pursuing priestly formation. It calls for a reexamination of the topic of priest formation from the fundamental basis. Therefore, based on the experience of priest formation at a seminary for over 30 years, this paper aims to diagnose the problems of priest formation in the Korean church and suggest alternatives. In a reality where times are changing along with the roles and duties that the church must fulfill according to the demands of the times, priests are also called to play diverse and changed roles. Therefore, since the formation of priests is necessary to respond to these changes, the task of priest formation is a topic that all the members of the Korean church are urgently requested to reflect on. In a reality where the number of applicants for priesthood is rapidly decreasing, we must train priests that the church and the times demand through qualitative formation, not quantitative Formation. In addition, in today's church, formation of priests is not the responsibility of seminaries alone. It is important that priests must be trained with the cooperation and interest of all parishes, dioceses, and layman. Therefore, there will be hope for the future church when there are change and renewal through the awareness and recognition of all members of the church regarding the formation of priests.
