국문 초록

본 연구는 대학생을 대상으로 작은 행복 추구 경향성(긍정 지향성, 즉각적 만족 지향성)이 사회적 연대 의식에 약화하는지 그리고 주관적 행복과 정치참여 의도가 이들 관계를 매개하는지 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 긍정 지향성은 사회적 연대 의식을 약화하기보다는 오히려 강화하는 것으로 나타났으며, 이 관계에 대한 정치참여 의도의 매개효과는 유의미했다. 하지만 주관적 행복의 매개효과는 유의미하지 않았다. 반면, 즉각적 만족 지향성은 사회적 연대 의식을 유의미하게 예측하지 못했다. 성별 차이를 살펴본 결과, 여성이 남성보다 정치참여 의도와 사회적 연대 의식 수준이 모두 높았다. 이 결과는 성별에 따른 공동체적 책무감과 시민성의 차별적 심리 기제를 시사한다. 본 연구의 결과는 긍정적 정서 중심의 작은 행복 추구가 청년층의 시민적 참여와 공동체 의식을 증진하는 데 도움이 될 수 있으며, 개인의 행복 경험이 사회적 가치 실현과도 연결될 수 있음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study explored whether small happiness-seeking tendencies—positivity orientation and immediate gratification—affect university students’ perceptions of social solidarity, with subjective happiness and political participation intention as mediators. Results showed that positivity orientation significantly promoted social solidarity, mediated by political participation intention, while subjective happiness had no significant effect. Immediate gratification orientation did not predict social solidarity. Gender differences emerged, with females reporting higher political participation intention and social solidarity. These results imply gender-specific psychological mechanisms tied to civic responsibility and community identity. Overall, the findings suggest that seeking happiness through positive emotions can foster civic engagement and community awareness among young adults, linking personal happiness with broader social values.
