국문 초록
This study observes and describes how intermediate Japanese learners regularly repeat reading aloud and silent reading for four months during the university semester, and how they perceive the change in their reading skills. A learner can recognize a chunk by repeated practice of reading aloud, and can understand the function of the chunk in the sentence they grasped, and realized improvement in syntax grasping ability. Under the restriction of focusing attention on phonetics in the brain, the content is understood at the speed of reading aloud, so there is not enough time to translate the meaning of the sentence into Korean and understand it as it is in Japanese. On the other hand, learners who practiced silent reading regularly repeatedly read sentences, so they began to feel that the process of following the text with their eyes became smooth and that the reading speed became faster. However, there was no significant change in the way in which meaning is understood.
As mentioned above, the process of long-term reading learning using reading aloud is investigated in comparison with silent reading, and the effectiveness of reading aloud as a method for promoting chunk recognition, understanding syntactic structure, and understanding in Japanese is suggested.
영문 초록
本稿では、中級日本語学習者が音読と黙読それぞれの読みを大学の学期 中、授業中、そして課外でも4ヶ月間定期的に繰り返す実践により、学習者は文章の読解学習にどのように取り組み、自分の読解能力がどのように変わっていったと捉えているかを観察し、記述した。学習者は、音読の繰り返し実践により、チャンクを認識できるようになると共に、把握したチャンクの文中での働きを理解できるようになり、構文把握力の向上を実感した。さらに、音読をしながらの読みでは、前に戻ったり、立ち止って文意を考えることができない。脳内の注意を音声化に向けるという制約がある中で音読の速度で内容を理解することになるため、文の意味を韓国語で訳して考える時間が足りなく、日本語のまま理解する習慣が身についた。一方、黙読を実践した学習者は、文章読みを定期的に繰り返し行ったた前に戻ることも、時間をかけて意味を韓国語に訳すこともできるため、学習者はそれまで身につけていた読み方を変えることはあまりなかった。以上、黙読との比較を通してそのプロセスを調査し、発音の流暢性と共に、チャンク認識、統語構造の把握、日本語のままの理解を促進する方法としての音読の効用が示唆できた。
