국문 초록

In this study, I examined the expressions “〜てくれる” and “〜てもらう” in terms of their usage contexts by analyzing Korean and Japanese literary works and their translations. In Japanese, “〜てくれる” indicates a speaker’s appreciation for an action performed by someone else in relation to himself, even in sentences where the subject is omitted. On the other hand, “〜てもらう” conveys the receipt of an action from the speaker’s perspective, revealing gratitude for the action related to the speaker, even in situations not specifically perceived as scenes of favor or kindness by Koreans. Moreover, it is used in situations of polite requests and scenes of permission, demonstrating consideration towards the other party without imposing undue burden. It also plays a role in clearly identifying the agent of an action in sentences where the subject is omitted. As seen above, “〜てくれる” and “〜てもらう” are not merely expressions of favor or kindness but are used under the recognition of fostering a harmonious relationship with others in Japanese discourse. They also serve the function of clarifying omitted subjects, making them unique expressions in Japanese language usage.

영문 초록

本研究では、「~てくれる」と「~てもらう」がどのような認識の下で発話される表現なのか、その使用状況を、日韓の文学作品とその対訳を通じて考察した。 日本語では相手のある動作に対して自分自身と関連づけて考え、ひいてはそれをありがたく受け入れるということを「~てくれる」を以て表すということと、主語が省略されている文においてある動作が誰の行為なのかを明らかにさせるために「~てくれる」は必須であることが分かった。 「~てもらう」は、「~어 주다(EO-JUDA)」または「て」の前の動詞で述べられる状況で話手の視点から話す表現であり、韓国語母語話者には特に恩恵の授受の場面と認識されない状況でも相手の動作を話手自身と関連づけてそれによるありがたさを表しているものである。また、「~어 달라 하다(EO-DALLAHADA)」で表現される丁寧な依頼、「~하게 하다(HAGEHADA)」で文に現れる許可の場面でも「~てもらう」が使われるが、ここには丁寧でありながらも相手に負担を負わせまいといった思いやりが込めてある。また、主語の省略された文においてある動作が誰の行為であるかを明らかにさせる役割をも果たしている。 以上から、「~てくれる」「~てもらう」は、単なる恩恵の授受だけでなく、相手への配慮ひいては相手との円満な関係を思う認識の下で使われ、省略された主語を明らかにさせる役割をする、日本語特有の表現の一つだと言えそうである。
