국문 초록

이 논문은 1954년 창간된 한국 한의학계에서 가장 오랜 역사를 지닌 학술지인 『의림(醫林)』에 발표된 논문들을 분석함으로써, 한국에서 사상의학에 대한 이해와 실천이 어떻게 변화해왔는지를 고찰한다. 특히 1951년 「국민의료법」 제정으로 한국의 한의학이 제도화된 이후부터, 1989년 『사상의학회지』가 창간되며 사상의학 지식이 전문화된 시기에 이르기 전까지의 과도기를 중심으로 분석한다. 이 시기는 사상의학이 점차 복잡성을 더해가고 새로운 사상들을 수용하며 임상 영역으로 다양하게 확장되었으나, 아직 체계화되지는 않은 과도기적 성격을 띠고 있었던 것으로 볼 수 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 분석을 통해, 함흥이라는 주변 지역에서 기원한 사상의학이 어떻게 제도적 인정을 받으며 한의학의 주류 담론 속으로 편입되어 가는지의 과정을 조명하고자 한다.

영문 초록

This paper examines the evolving understanding and practice of Sasang medicine in South Korea by analyzing treatises published in Uirim (醫林; Medical Circles), the longest-running journal of Korean medicine, from its inception in 1954 until the early 2000s. It focuses particularly on the transitional phase from the institutionalization of Korean medicine in 1951, when the National Medical Act was enacted, up until the professionalization of Sasang medical knowledge in 1989, marked by the first publication of the Journal of Sasang Constitutional Medicine. This period can be described as one of increasing complexity of Sasang medicine, the integration of new ideas, and the diversification of its clinical practice, though it was not yet fully systematized. By doing so, this paper aims to illuminate how Sasang medicine developed within the broader Korean medical sphere, moving from its peripheral origins in Hamheung to its institutional recognition.
