국문 초록

최근 지역이 품고 있는 이야기를 활용한 콘텐츠가 화두이다. 각 지자체를 중심으로 지역의 역사, 장소, 인물을 주제로 한 콘텐츠는 지역 특수성을 머금으면서 정체성을 구현하고, 경제활성화에도 긍정적인 영향이 있어 가치가 매우 크다. 이 같은 상황에서 이 연구는 세종시에서 태어난 화백 장욱진을 활용한 연극 <길 위의 자화상>의 기획 과정과 공연 콘텐츠로의 전환이 가진 의미를 살펴보았다. 먼저 장욱진이 가진 삶의 철학을 살펴봄으로써 왜 ‘장욱진’이라는 키워드를 설정했는지 분석하였으며, 이를 활용한 스토리텔링을 통해 플롯이 구성되는 과정과 함께 장욱진의 작품 ‘자화상’, ‘진진묘’, ‘소녀’, ‘남자아이’를 모티브로 캐릭터가 구축되는 과정을 연구하였다. 다음으로 연극의 시·공간적 배경을 구현하는 무대 장치의 형성과정 등 연극의 물리적 조건을 살펴보았다. 이처럼 세종시 문화적 소재인 ‘장욱진’을 활용하여 연극<길 위의 자화상>이 가지는 의미로는 지역 소재의 끊임없는 발굴을 통한 다양한 콘텐츠가 확산 가능성이 생긴다는 점과 지역 인물을 통해서 인간의 본질적 가치를 발굴하고 공유할 수 있다는 점, 시각예술과 공연을 융합하는 새로운 콘텐츠의 방향성을 제시하였다는 점에서 의미를 고찰하였다. 이 같은 점에서 연구의 성과가 있겠지만, 관객을 대상으로 하는 심층인터뷰 또는 설문조사를 진행하지 못했다는 점에서 한계도 있으며, 이는 후속연구로 제안하고자 한다.

영문 초록

Recently, there has been a growing focus on content utilizing stories unique to specific regions. Content centered on the history, places, and figures of local communities not only embodies regional specificity and identity but also positively contributes to economic revitalization, making it highly valuable. In this context, this study examines the planning process and the transformation of , a play inspired by painter Chang Ucchin, born in Sejong City, into a performance content. The study first explores Chang Ucchin's philosophy of life to analyze the rationale behind selecting ‘Chang Ucchin’ as a key theme. It then investigates the process of constructing the plot through storytelling, using Chang Ucchin's works, such as ‘Self-Portrait’, ‘Jinjinmyo’, ‘Girl’, and ‘Boy’, as motifs for character development. Additionally, the study delves into the formation of stage design that embodies the play's temporal and spatial settings, thereby understanding the physical aspects of the performance. By utilizing Chang Ucchin, a cultural asset of Sejong City, the play holds significant meaning in several aspects: the potential for continuous discovery and expansion of regional content, the exploration and sharing of fundamental human values through local figures, and the presentation of a new direction for merging visual arts with performance content. While this study achieves meaningful insights, it acknowledges limitations, such as the absence of in-depth interviews or surveys with the audience. These limitations are proposed as areas for future research.
