해양 리터러시 기반 해양교육에 대한 교육 요구도 분석: 산간지역과 해안지역 초등학생의 차이를 중심으로

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 산간지역과 해안지역 초등학생의 해양 리터러시 기반 해양교육에 대한 교육 요구를 분석하여 해양교육의 최우선순위를 도출하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 방법 임의추출 방법을 적용하여 해안과 산간지역 각 2개 도시에서 총 4개 초등학교를 선정하고 소속 교사의 도움을 받아 5, 6학년 96명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 간단형 해양 리터러시 평가 척도의 각 항목에 대한 중요도와 현재 수준을 측정하여 대응표본 t-검증, Borich 요구분석, the Locus for Focus 분석을 시행하였다. 결과 산간지역과 해안지역 초등학생의 최우선 교육 요구는 유사하였으나 약간의 차이가 나타났다. 공통된 최우선순위 교육 요구는 “바다에서 장비를 사용할 때, 상황에 맞게 조정하기”, “바다에서 발생하는 위기에 대처하기”, “바다의 위험 요소를 예측하기”였다. 산간지역에서만 나타난 요구는 “바다에서 안전하게 활동하기”였다. 결론 모든 지역에 적용 가능한 해양교육의 공통 교육과 지역별 특성에 맞춘 특화 교육의 구체적인 교육 내용과 방법을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aimed to analyze the educational needs of ocean literacy-based marine education for elementary school students in mountainous and coastal areas and to derive the top priorities for marine education. Methods Using a random sampling method, four elementary schools (two from mountainous areas and two from coastal areas) were selected. With the assistance of affiliated teachers, a survey was conducted on 96 fifth and sixth-grade students. The importance and current levels of each item on the simplified Ocean Literacy Assessment Scale were measured. Paired t-tests, Borich's needs analysis, and the Locus for Focus analysis were performed. Results The top educational needs of elementary school students in mountainous and coastal areas were generally similar, with slight differences. The common top-priority educational needs included “adjusting equipment to fit the situation while using it in the sea,” “responding to emergencies occurring in the sea,” and “predicting potential hazards in the sea.” A unique need identified only in mountainous areas was “engaging in safe activities in the sea.” Conclusions The study proposed educational content and methods for common marine education applicable to all regions, as well as specific educational content and methods tailored to the characteristics of each region.
