A Phenomenological Study of Parental Educational Anxiety in the Context of the Double Reduction Policy in China

국문 초록

목적 이 연구는 이중감축(Double Reduction Policy) 정책과 부모의 교육 불안 사이의 관계를 탐구하고, 이중감축 정책이 부모의 교육적 시각과 자녀 교육 방식에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 탐색하고자 한다. 방법 이 연구는 현상학적 방법을 활용하였으며, H시 초·중등학교의 학생, 학부모 및 교사를 연구 참여자로 선정하였다. 자료는 반구조화된 인터뷰를 통해 수집하였으며, 콜라지(Colaizzi)의 7단계 분석법을 사용하여 분석하였다. 그 결과, 총 236개의 개방코드, 38개의 개념, 14개의 하위 범주 그리고 4개의 상위 범주가 도출하였다. 결과 연구 결과에 따르면, 이중감축 정책 시행 이후, 부모의 정책 태도와 부모의 교육 패턴이 자녀 교육에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히, 부모는 자녀의 일상적인 교육과 교사와의 비번한 소통 그리고 대체 교육 자원을 통해 자녀의 교육에 개입하는 것으로 나타났다. 한편, 자녀의 학업 성과에 대한 무지, 방과 후 보충 수업의 효과성, 시험 중심 교육과 학습 부담 간의 불일치, 높은 교육적 기대감, 증가하는 교육비는 부모의 교육적 불안을 초래하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 이 연구는 ‘이중감축(Double Reduction Policy) 정책’이 부모의 교육 불안에 미치는 영향을 탐색하였다. 이에 대한 연구 결과는 정부가 교사, 학부모 및 학생 간의 의사소통을 강화할 수 있는 채널을 제공할 필요가 있음을 보여준다. 그러므로, 정부는 정책 수립 시 사회 계층 및 소득 수준의 다양성을 고려해야 한다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aims to explore the relationship between double reduction policy and parents' educational anxiety, and identifies how the double reduction policy affects parents' views on education and in what ways it influences parents' education of their children. Methods This study uses phenomenological approach and data was collected through semi-structured interviews with students, parents, and teachers from primary and secondary schools in City H. The data was analyzed using Colaizzi's seven-step analysis, which resulted in 236 open codes, 38 concepts, 14 subordinate categories and 4 superordinate categories. Results After double reduction, “parents attitudes on policy” and “parents educational patterns” influence parents views on their children's education. Parents intervene in their children's education through “daily education of children”, “additional communication with teachers”, and “searching for alternative educational resources”. “unknown about their children's performance”, “effectiveness of after-school tutoring”, “mismatch between exam-oriented can cause parents' educational anxiety. Conclusions This study explored the effects of double reduction policy on parents' educational anxiety. The government also needs to provide the channel to enhance communication with teachers, parents and student. Policies should take into account the diversity of social classes and income levels.
