학부모와 학생으로부터 무례함을 경험한 초임교사들의 인식에 대한 현상학적 연구

국문 초록

연구목적: 본 연구는 학부모와 학생으로부터 무례함을 겪은 초임교사의 경험을 심층적으로 탐색하여 그 경험의 본질적 의미를 파악하고자 하였다. 연구방법: 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 무례함을 겪은 교직 경력 5년 미만의 초임 교사를 대상으로 심층 인터뷰를 진행하고 수집된 자료를 Giorgi의 기술적 현상학 연구 방법으로 분석하였다. 연구결과: 6개의 상위구성요소와 27개의 하위구성요소가 도출되었다. 6개 상위구성요소는 ‘학부모와 학생으로부터 무례함을 빈번하게 경험함’, ‘무례함으로 인해 나 자신이 수시로 손상됨’, ‘무례함으로 인해 교사로서의 정체감이 심각하게 훼손됨’, ‘무례 경험을 극복하려고 노력함’, ‘무례 경험을 이겨내는데 도움이 되었던 것들’, ‘무례 경험을 이겨내며 새롭게 획득한 것들’로 나타났다. 논의 및 결론: 학부모와 학생으로부터 무례함을 겪은 초임교사 경험의 공통적이고 핵심적인 요소를 추출하여 구성요소들 간의 관계를 일반적 구조로 제시하였다. 마지막으로, 무례경험과 관련한 교육적 논의와 시사점을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Purpose: This study attempted to explore the beginning teachers’ experiences of incivility from parents and students and to find out the essential meaning of the experience. Method: Eight beginning teachers with less than five years of experience working in schools who experienced incivility were interviewed in-depth and the collected data were analyzed by the Giorgi’s method of phenomenological research. Results: Six main themes and 27 sub-themes were found. The six main themes are as followed: ‘incivility frequently experienced from parents and students’, ‘myself frequently damaged’, ‘identity as a teacher seriously damaged’, ‘trying to overcome incivility experiences’, ‘things helping overcome incivility’, ‘new things learned from overcoming incivility.’ Conclusion: The study suggested common and core elements of beginning teachers’ experiences of incivility experiences and proposed a generic structure of the relationships among the elements.
