국문 초록

본 논문에서는 신자유주의 리더십의 폐해가 드러나면서 리더의 진정성을 강조하는 진성리더 십의 역사성과 연구가 시작된 이래 지금까지의 국내·외 연구동향을 검토했다. 진성리더십은 알 려진 바와는 달리 기존에 존재하는 다양한 리더십 스타일의 또 다른 대안이 아니다. 기존의 리더 십 스타일이 리더십의 필요조건이라면 진성리더십은 리더십의 충분조건에 대해서 연구한다. 진성 리더십에서 리더의 충분조건으로 구현하는 진정성은 목적과 구성원에 대한 긍휼감의 진실성이다. 한국에서 진행되어온 진성리더십 이론과 앞으로의 연구전망도 소개하여 진성리더십을 통해 대한 민국에 만연한 리더포비아 현상을 극복하는데 일조하고자 한다.

영문 초록

This paper reviews the historical development and current research trends in both global and domestic authentic leadership. Authentic leadership began as a challenging task to address the issues caused by capital market oriented leaders. Authentic leadership emphasizes the authenticity of purpose and compassion leaders carry to rectify the detrimental effects of capital market oriented leaders. While existing leadership emphasizes styles and skills as necessary conditions for leadership, authentic leadership features purpose and compassion as the sufficient conditions for leadership. The paper also introduces the development of authentic leadership theory in Korea and discusses future research prospects with the aim of contributing to overcoming the prevalent leader-phobia in South Korea.
