In recent years, the study of maritime history has become a focal point in academia, with research on the maritime history of specific regions increasingly gaining attention. Research on the Maritime History of the Ancient Zhoushan Archipelago (《古代舟山群岛海洋史研究》) by Feng Dingxiong (冯定雄) focuses on China’s largest archipelago, the Zhoushan Archipelago, exploring the origins, evolution, and system of its maritime history. The book examines the unique development processes of island history, maritime frontier history, marine fishery history, marine salt history, overseas trade history, and overseas cultural exchange history within the Zhoushan Archipelago. Furthermore, it discusses the place of the archipelago’s maritime history in the broader context of Chinese and world history, highlighting its significant academic value.
