상담자의 외상상담 경험과 공감이 대리외상에 미치는 영향: 인지적·정서적·태도적 공감의 차별적 효과와 군집 간 차이

국문 초록

목적 본 연구에서는 공감의 하위 요인인 인지적 공감, 태도적 공감, 정서적 공감이 상담자의 대리외상에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 방법 외상 상담 경험이 있는 상담자 174명을 대상으로 온라인 설문조사를 실시하여 인지적 공감, 정서적 공감, 태도적 공감, 대리외상을 측정하고, SPSS 22.0을 활용하여 회귀분석과 군집분석을 실시하였다. 결과 첫째, 인지적 공감은 대리외상에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 정서적 공감은 대리외상에 정적으로 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 태도적 공감은 대리외상에 부적으로 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 마지막으로, 군집분석을 실시한 결과, 총 4개의 집단(태도적 공감 우세 집단, 전반적 공감 저하 집단, 전반적 공감 높은 집단, 정서적 공감 우세 집단)이 도출되었다. 또한, 태도적 공감 우세 집단이 전반적 공감이 높은 집단과 정서적 공감 우세 집단에 비해 대리외상 점수가 낮은 것으로 확인되었다. 이러한 결과들은 정서적 공감이 상담자의 대리외상을 초래할 수 있음을 의미한다. 결론 정서적 공감이 높은 상담자는 대리외상에 취약할 수 있고 태도적 공감이 높은 상담자는 대리외상을 덜 경험할 수 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purposes of this study were to investigate how the factors of empathy-cognitive empathy, affective empathy and attitudinal empathy would influence vicarious trauma among counselors. Methods A study was conducted with 174 counselor experienced in trauma counseling to measure cognitive empathy, affective empathy, attitudinal empathy, and vicarious trauma. Regression analysis and cluster analysis were performed using SPSS 22.0. Results First, cognitive empathy was found to have no significant effect on vicarious trauma. Second, affective empathy had a positive significant effect on vicarious trauma. Third, attitudinal empathy had a negative significant effect on vicarious trauma. Lastly, cluster analysis revealed four groups, including Dominant Attitudinal Empathy, Overall Low Empathy, Overall High Empathy, and Dominant affective Empathy Dominant. The Dominant Attitudinal Empathy group scored lower on the vicarious trauma scale compared to the Overall High Empathy and Domiant Affective Empathy Dominant groups. These results suggest that affective empathy may contribute to vicarious trauma in counselors. Conclusions Counselors with high affective empathy may be more vulnerable to vicarious trauma, whereas those with high attitudinal empathy may experience less vicarious trauma.
