저소득층 대학생의 경제적 자립에 관한 현상학적 연구

국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 저소득층 대학생의 경제적 자립 경험에 대한 의미와 본질을 밝히기 위해 현상학적 연구방법을 적용하여 실시되었다. 방법 이를 위해 의도적 표집과 눈덩이 표집을 통해 수도권 소재의 대학에 재학 중인 저소득층 대학생을 네 명을 선정하여 심층면담을 진행했으며, Colaizzi의 현상학적 방법론을 통해 면담자료를 분석하였다. 결과 분석결과, 저소득층 대학생의 경제적 자립 경험은 두 개의 범주, 다섯 개의 주제 묶음, 그리고 10개의 하위 주제가 도출되었다. 첫 번째 범주는 ‘자립 과정에서 알게 된 것’으로, ‘자립의 계기’, ‘부모님의 반응’, ‘생활방식’이라는 주제가 나타났다. 두 번째 범주는 ‘자립 과정에서 발견한 의미’로, ‘과업의 성취’와 ‘자립의 영향’이라는 주제가 나타났다. 도출된 결과를 통해 저소득층 대학생들은 경제적 자립 과정에서 현실적 어려움과 더불어 심리적 성장 또한 경험하는 것으로 나타났다. 결론 본 연구는 저소득층 대학생의 경제적 자립의 경험을 이해하고, 추후 대학교육 차원에서 이들을 위한 심리교육적 개입의 기초자료와 더불어 대학 내 교과과정 개발을 위한 정책개발의 시사점을 제공한다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study explored the experience and essence of lower class university students’ financial self-reliance using a phenomenological approach. Methods In-depth interviews were conducted on four lower class university students in capital area .The interview data were analyzed using phenomenological analysis of Colaizzi. Results The findings were organized into two categories, five essential themes, and 10 sub themes. The first category was ‘the awareness in the process of financial self-reliance’ which included three themes ‘the reason of financial self-reliance’, ‘parents’s response’ and ‘a lifestyle’. The second category was ‘recognizing the meaning in the process of financial self-reliance’ which included the themes ‘developmental tasks’ and ‘infulences of financial self-reliance’. Participants experienced not only hardship in reality but psychological growth. Conclusions The implication has the meaning of understanding the experiences and essence of lower class university students in the process of self-reliance. The study would contribute to basic data for psycho-educational intervention. Moreover, this study provides policy implication for curriculum/extracurricular courses in the school context.
