학교현장실습학기제를 위한 교원양성기관의 역할과 과제 - 미국 사범대학 다중사례분석을 중심으로

국문 초록

연구목적 본 연구는 미국 4개 사범대학의 교육실습 제도와 운영에 대한 다중사례연구를 실시하고, 이를 바탕으로 학교현장실습학기제를 위한 교원양성기관의 역할과 과제에 대해 탐색하였다. 연구방법 질적연구방법을 사용한 본 연구는 문헌자료 수집 및 분석을 통해 다중사례에 대한 명문화된 교육실습 제도 및 운영의 현황을 파악하고, 슈퍼바이저로서 교육실습 전담·출장지도의 경험이 있는 교원을 소속 기관별로 면담하여 실천적 차원에서의 제도 및 운영의 실제를 조사하였다. 연구결과 연구 결과, 미국 4개 사범대학의 교육실습 제도와 운영에서의 교원양성기관의 역할 및 과제에 대해 다음의 공통점이 도출되었다: (1)교원양성 전(全) 과정을 통한 단계형·분산형 사전실습, (2)학기 단위 교육실습에서의 점진적 학교 현장 진입 및 이수 요건 체계화, (3)트라이어드(triad)형 협력적 관계 제도 속 슈퍼바이저의 역할과 책임, (4)교육실습의 목표·내용·결과·쟁점으로서의 다문화교육 실천 제도화. 결론 2028년도 학교현장실습학기제 전면 도입이 예고된 가운데 본 연구의 결과는 단지 실습기간의 확대뿐만 아니라 교원양성 교육과정 전 과정의 재구조화 및 교육실습 연계 설계, 교육실습 현장 전문가로서의 슈퍼바이저 활용과 역할 고도화를 위한 제도·재원 준비, 미래 인구변화 및 다문화 사회로의 진입에 따른 교원양성의 과제를 시사한다.

영문 초록

Purpose: This study conducted a multiple-case study on the student teaching policies and practices at 4 teacher education universities in the United States. Methods: Adopting a qualitative research method, this study examined documented policies and practices of student teaching at 4 U.S. teacher education institutions through literature review, and interviews with 4 professors in the universities who had experience as a student teaching supervisor. Results: 4 major findings regarding the roles and responsibilities of teacher education institutions for student teaching are as follows: (1) Phased and distributed pre-practicum experiences integrated throughout the entire teacher education curriculum, (2) Gradual immersion into school settings and systematization of step-by-step completion requirements, (3) The roles and responsibilities of supervisors within triad-based collaborative relationships, and (4) The institutionalization of multicultural education as a goal, content, outcome, and an issue of student teaching practicum. Conclusion: As the Semester-long School-based Practicum System(학교현장실습학기제) is set to be fully implemented in 2028, the findings of this study suggest that change should go beyond simply extending the practicum period. It calls for restructuring the whole teacher education curriculum, designing integrated practicum programs, enhancing the institutional and financial support for supervisors as field experts, and addressing the challenges of teacher education in light of demographic changes and the shift toward a multicultural society.
