국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 학교상담자들이 학교부적응 학생상담 시 경험하는 어려움을 살펴보고, 이에 대한 지원 방안을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 방법 2023년 8월 1일부터 9월 3일까지 무선표집한 학교상담자 54명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 SPSS WIN 22.0으로 선택형 문항은 빈도(N)와 백분율(%)을 분석하였다. 설문조사 대상자 중 6명을 모집하여 온라인 줌(ZOOM) 화상회의로 일대일 심층 면담을 진행하고, Krippendorff(2003)의 내용 분석 절차를 통해 자료를 분석하였다. 연구참여자의 경험을 개념화하고 범주화하여 2개 영역, 8개 범주, 15개의 하위범주로 도출하였다. 이를 통해 양적·질적 연구를 결합한 심층적 접근을 시도하였다. 결과 학교부적응 학생상담의 주요 어려움은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학교상담 시스템의 제도적 한계로 인해 상황에 맞춘 유연한 대응이 어렵고, 학교 구성원의 상담 인식이 부족하여 상담 진행에 어려움을 겪고 있었다. 둘째, 상담자의 전문성 유지와 심리적 부담도 큰 문제로, 책임의 집중과 상담 성과에 대한 비현실적 기대가 상담자에게 무력감을 주고 있었다. 셋째, 상담 대상 학생들의 문제는 복잡하고 다양해 맞춤형 상담 접근의 어려움, 비자발적 상담의 어려움, 교사 및 학부모와의 협력 부족의 어려움을 보고하였다. 이를 해결하기 위해 상담자 지원 체계 강화와 협력 시스템 구축이 필수적임을 시사하고 있다. 결론 본 연구는 학교상담자들이 겪는 어려움을 탐색하고, 제도적 개선과 외부 자원 연계의 필요성을 제시하여 학교상담자 지원 방안을 모색하였다는 측면에서 의의가 있다. 이를 통해 학교상담자들이 학교부적응 학생을 효과적으로 지원하고, 그들의 업무 부담을 줄이기 위한 구체적인 개선 방안을 마련하는 데 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to examine the challenges faced by school counselors when providing counseling to students experiencing school maladjustment, and to explore support strategies to address these difficulties. Methods From August 1 to September 3, 2023, a survey was conducted with a sample of 54 school counselors selected through random sampling. The survey data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 22.0, with frequency (N) and percentage (%) calculated for the multiple-choice items. Additionally, six participants were recruited for in-depth one-on-one interviews conducted via the online platform ZOOM. The qualitative data were analyzed following Krippendorff’s (2003) content analysis procedures, resulting in the conceptualization and categorization of partic ipants’ experiences into 2 domains, 8 categories, and 15 subcategories. This study employed a mixed-methods approach, integrating quantitative and qualitative research for an in-depth analysis. Results The content analysis identified 2 main domains, 8 categories, and 16 subcategories. The major challenges in counseling students with school maladaptation are as follows: First, institutional limitations in the school coun seling system make it difficult to provide flexible responses to specific situations, and the lack of awareness among school staff about counseling hinders the counseling process. Second, maintaining the counselor's pro fessional competence while managing psychological burdens is a significant issue, as the concentration of re sponsibility and unrealistic expectations of counseling outcomes lead to feelings of helplessness among counselors. Third, the complexity and diversity of students' issues require tailored approaches and responses to involuntary counseling, with a lack of cooperation from teachers and parents being a further concern. Strengthening counselor support systems and establishing collaborative networks are essential to addressing these challenges. Conclusions This study holds significance in exploring the challenges faced by school counselors and proposing support strategies through institutional improvements and the need for external resource linkage. These findings may serve as practical improvements to enable school counselors to more effectively support students struggling with school adjustment and to alleviate their workload.
