범교과 학습 주제로 살펴본 학교 통일교육

국문 초록

목적 이 연구는 2022 개정 초등학교 교육과정에서 학교 통일교육을 살펴보고 시의성 높은 주제의 적용을 검토하였다. 2022 개정 교육과정에서는 범교과 학습 주제를 관련된 교과의 성취기준과 연계하여 활용할 수 있도록 하였다. 이에 본 연구는 2025년부터 적용될 초등학교 내용 체계와 성취기준을 토대로 학교 통일교육의 현황을 살펴보고 국가적 요구와 시의성 있는 주제를 반영할 수 있는 가능성을 모색하였다. 방법 이를 위하여 첫째, 2022 개정 교육과정에서 통일교육이 교과 내용에 어떻게 구현되었는지 분석한 후 둘째, 교육과정 1차 시기부터 현재까지 범교과 학습 주제인 통일교육의 변화를 살펴보고, 셋째, 시의성 높은 주제를 교과 교육과정과 연계할 수 있는 가능성을 찾고자 한다. 결과 ‘8.15 통일 독트린’에서 밝힌 통일 대한민국의 미래상은 사회과와 도덕과 뿐만 아니라 국어, 미술 등의 교과에 적용이 가능하며 범교과 학습 주제로 유연하고 효율적으로 연계될 수 있음을 확인하였다. 결론 통일교육 책임운영기관인 국립통일교육원은 2025년부터 순차적으로 적용되는 2022 개정 교육과정을 토대로 첫째, 학교 현장에서 필요로 하는 자료 수요를 예측하고 둘째, 구체적인 교육용 자료를 개발, 보급하여 일선 학교에서 관련 주제를 시의성 있게 다루기 쉽게 하여야 할 것이다. 셋째, 교사 전문성 신장을 위한 관련 연수 내지는 연구학교 사례의 일반화 노력 등이 필요하다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study examined the overall status of unification education in schools, focusing on the 2022 revised elementary school curriculum, and reviewed the applicability of time-sensitive themes, such as the ‘8.15 Unification Doctrine.’ Methods To this end, first, the changes in unification education as a cross-curricular learning theme from the first phase of the curriculum to the present were examined. Second, how unification education is linked to subject content in the 2022 revised curriculum was analyzed. Finally, the possibility of integrating time-sensitive themes with the subject curriculum was explored. Results The results of the study confirmed that the vision for a unified Korea, as outlined in the ‘8.15 Unification Doctrine,’ can be applied not only to social studies and ethics but also to subjects like Korean language and art. Conclusions Therefore, the National Unification Education Institute, which oversees unification education, should, based on the sequential implementation of the 2022 revised curriculum, first anticipate the material needs of schools, and second, develop and distribute specific educational resources to address relevant themes in a timely manner.
