65세 이상 노인층의 연령구간별 입원 및 요양기관급별 간병현황에 관한 연구: 2021년 의료패널을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 노인층의 다양성을 고려하여 정책방안을 모색하기 위하여 연령구간별 입원 현황과, 입원 요양기관급별 간병현황의 차이를 분석하였다. 2021년 한국의료패널 데이터를 사용하여 65세 이상 노인층의 입원 및 간병 현황을 분석한 결과, 분석 대상 건수는 1,448건이었으며, 대상 노인층은 93%가 만성질환을 보유하고 있었고, 장애율은 18%였다. 연령 증가에 따라 상급종합병원과 종합병원을 합한 입원율이 증가하였고, 80세 이상의 후기고령층에서 가장 높았다. 특히 80세 이상 후기고령층에서는 요양병원의 입원율도 다른 연령구간보다 높았다. 간병 현황을 보면 65-69세는 간병인이 없는 비율이 54.1%로 가장 많았으나 80세 이상층에서는 가족간병이 50%를 넘어섰다. 간병비용부담은 상급종합병원이 가장 높았으며, 노인요양병원은 공동간병으로 약 2만원을 부담하는 것으로 나타났으나 전 유형에서 간병부담을 느끼는 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

This study investigates age-based differences in hospitalization and caregiving among elderly Koreans, aiming to inform policies that address the diverse needs of this population. Using 2021 Korea Health Panel data, we analyzed 1,448 cases of individuals aged 65 and older. Results show that 93% of these seniors have chronic conditions, with 18% reporting disabilities. Hospitalization rates at tertiary and general hospitals increase with age, peaking among those 80 and older, who also have a higher rate of long-term care hospital admissions than younger age groups. In caregiving, 54.1% of those aged 65-69 had no caregiver, but over 50% of the 80+ group relied on family care. Daily caregiving costs were highest in tertiary general hospitals, whereas long-term care hospitals, offering shared caregiving, averaged around 20,000 KRW per day. Overall, caregiving burden is felt across all care types. The study highlights the need for targeted policy interventions that consider the specific healthcare and caregiving demands of older age groups, especially for the most elderly.
