국문 초록

목적 본 연구는 공손성의 원리를 도입하여 높임 표현 교육 내용이 높임 표현 체계로서 제시되는 것을 넘어서서 실제 언어 사용을 고려하고 담화를 중심으로 구성되어야 함을 제안하는 데 목적이 있다. 방법 공손성의 원리와 높임 표현과의 관계를 논의하고, 공손성의 원리에 의해 다양한 높임 표현의 사용 양상을 설명할 수 있는 가능성을 확인하였다. 그리고 높임 표현은 어떤 대상이나 상대에 대하여 나이 또는 사회적 지위에 대한 높고 낮음을 표현하는 방식에 한정되지 않고, 상대방에게 존중 또는 정중함을 표현하는 방식으로 재개념화하였다. 결과 높임 표현은 규범적 문법 현상에 속하면서도 화자의 의도나 심리적 거리에 따라 선택되는 언어적 표현으로서, 선어말 어미 ‘-시-’의 ‘친밀감, 심리적 거리 표시’ 등의 의미에 대한 선택적 실현, 서법의 변화를 통한 공손 표현과 상대 높임 표현의 통합적 실현, 보조용언이나 부가적 용언의 사용이 포함된다. 결론 높임 표현은 문법 현상으로만 설명되는 것이 아니라 공손성의 원리라는 사회 문화적 배경 속에서 이루어지는 언어 사용 차원으로 접근할 때 학습자의 국어 생활을 지원할 수 있는 교육적 효과가 있다.

영문 초록

Objectives The purpose of this study is to propose that by introducing the principle of politeness, the content of honorific expression education should be constructed around discourse and consider authentic language use. Methods First, the relationship between the principle of politeness and honorific expression was discussed, and the possibility of explaining the usage patterns of various honorific expressions was confirmed by the principle of politeness. Therefore, honorific expression is not limited to the way of expressing high and low about age or social status to an object or partner, but is re-conceptualized in a way that expresses respect or courtesy to the other person. Results Honorific expression is a linguistic expression that belongs to a normative grammatical phenomenon and is selected according to the speaker's intention or psychological distance. It is discussed selective realization of the pre-final ending ‘-si-’, change of mood, and use of vocabulary. Conclusions Honorific expressions are not only explained by grammatical phenomena, but have an educational effect that can support learners' Korean life when approached in terms of language use in the socio-cultural background of the principle of politeness.
