The Current State and Trends of Research on Chinese Language Proficiency (2008-2023): A Bibliometric Analysis Based on CiteSpace and VOSviewer

Language capacity is essential in both theoretical and applied linguistics. This study traces the development of language capacity research, identifies key trends and emerging issues, and aims to advance research in language capacity field, using bibliometric analysis of articles from CNKI (2008-2023). Using Citespace and VOSviewer, the study maps the visual landscape of Chinese language capacity research, focusing on authors, institutions, and keywords. The analysis shows an overall upward trend in annual publications on language capacity. Prominent authors such as Wen Qiufang, Zhang Tianwei, and Shen Qi have a loosely connected collaboration network. Leading institutions like Beijing Foreign Studies University’s China Foreign Language and Education Research Center and the Ministry of Education’s Institute of Applied Linguistics have high publication volumes but face some research limitations. Research focuses on “anguage planning” and “language strategy,” “shifting towards ethnic regions” and “income effects,” reflecting current trends. These efforts have significantly advanced Chinese language capacity research and provide insights for future studies.

영문 초록

语言能力是目前理论语言学领域和应用语言学研究工作的一项重要内容，为了梳理语言能力相关研究工作的发展演变，分析该学术领域的主要方向和前沿问题，促进我国语言能力领域研究的发展，本文利用文献计量学方法以2008—2023 年中国知网（CNKI）数据库中核心期刊文献为数据样本，借助Citespace6.2.Ｒ4 和VOSviewer1.6.18 可视化分析软件，通过对语言能力相关研究的作者、机构及关键词方面对我国语言能力的研究状况进行可视化知识图谱分析发现，我国语言能力年发文量呈现波动上升趋势。从研究作者上来看，主要有文秋芳、张天伟、沈骑等作者，但相互之间合作网络松散，关联度较小；从研究机构来看，有北京外国语大学中国外语与教育研究中心、教育部语言文字应用研究所等机构，且这两家发文量排名靠前，但研究内容和发展也具有一些局限；从研究热点上来看，研究热点主要集中在“语言规划”“语言战略”逐渐过渡到“民族地区”“收入效应”等紧贴时代热点层面。这些研究推动了我国语言能力研究的发展，对未来研究选题非常有借鉴意义。
