탄소중립 실천을 위한 엔지니어링 사고 기반 메이커 활동 사례연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 유아의 탄소중립 실천을 위한 엔지니어링 사고 기반 메이커 활동 경험이어떠한지를 살펴보는 것이다. 이를 위해 사례연구를 실시하였으며, 연구 참여자는 유치원 2곳의 만5세 유아 30명과 담임교사 2명이다. 교사와 연구자는 유아의 놀이 속에서 탄소중립 실천을 도모할수 있도록 지원하는 역할을 하였으며, 8주간 현장 자료수집이 이루어졌다. 자료수집은 메이커 활동과정 사진, 동영상, 면담, 메이커 활동 결과물 등을 통해 이루어졌으며, 수집된 자료는 연구 목적과관련하여 의미 있는 주제를 추출하여 연관성 있는 내용끼리 범주화하였다. 연구 결과 엔지니어링사고 기반 메이커 활동을 통한 탄소중립 이해와 실천, 문제 해결 과정에서의 엔지니어링 사고 적용,탄소중립 실천 행동 변화로 나타났다. 본 연구는 유아교육에서 탄소중립 교육의 효과성을 높이고,실질적인 행동 변화를 끌어낼 수 있는 통합적이고 창의적인 교육 방법을 탐색하는 데 기여한다. 이를 통해 탄소중립 교육이 단순한 지식 전달에서 벗어나 실천적 변화를 유도하는 교육으로 발전할가능성을 제시했다는 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the experience of engineeringthinking-based maker activities for practicing carbon neutrality in young children. To this end,a case study was conducted, and the subjects of the study were 30 5-year-old children and 2 homeroom teachers from two kindergartens. The teachers and researchers played a role insupporting the practice of carbon neutrality through the children’s play, and on-site datacollection was conducted for 8 weeks. Data collection was conducted through photos, videos,interviews, and maker activity results of the maker activity process, and the collected datawas categorized by extracting meaningful topics related to the research purpose. The results ofthe study were as follows: understanding and practicing carbon neutrality through engineeringthinking-based maker activities, application of engineering thinking in the problem-solvingprocess, and behavioral changes in practicing carbon neutrality. This study contributes toexploring integrated and creative educational methods that can enhance the effectiveness ofcarbon neutrality education in early childhood education and lead to actual behavioralchanges. Through this, it is significant in that it suggests the possibility that carbon neutralityeducation can develop from simple knowledge transfer to education that induces practicalchanges.
