국문 초록

This study employs Wmatrix, a corpus analytical tool, to examine stylistic differences between two translations of Hwang Sun-won’s Sonagi. By analyzing the texts’ lexical, grammatical, and semantic features, it uncovers distinct stylistic characteristics shaped by the translators’ linguistic and translational choices. While both translations effectively convey the themes and atmosphere of the original text, they exhibit notable stylistic variations: one prioritizes logical cohesion, explicitness, and contextual clarity, whereas the other emphasizes lyrical, introspective, and emotionally evocative qualities. The findings highlight Wmatrix’s effectiveness in identifying linguistic patterns and stylistic distinctions, offering a systematic and quantitative approach to translational stylistics. This study underscores the potential of digital humanities tools to advance translation studies by providing deeper insights into translators’ stylistic tendencies and broadening the methodological scope for future research.
