Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the determinants of subjective health and stress among Korean youths during the COVID-19 pandemic. Design/methodology/approach: Youth Panel data were used for the analysis. The study period was the year 2020, and a total of 2,563 observations were collected. Findings: Multiple linear regression was employed for the data analysis. The results indicate that subjective health was negatively affected by stress, housing expenses, and telecommunication expenses. However, transportation expenses exerted a positive effect on subjective health. Research limitations/implications: The results also revealed that stress was positively affected by housing and telecommunication expenses, whereas stress was negatively impacted by transportation expenses. The results could inform policies relevant to Korean youths. Originality/value: The study's results provide valuable information that can be used to develop policies that are relevant to Korean youth. In particular, the research findings can serve as a reference for policymakers when allocating budgets for youth welfare policies.
