국문 초록
본 연구는 상자그림을 활용한 두 표본 비교 과제를 다룰 때 학생들이 사용하는 비교 추리에 관한 추론 방식과 그 수준을 탐색함으로써, 상자그림을 활용한 비형식적 통계적 추리 지도를 위한 교수학적 시사점을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 본고에서는 문헌 분석에 기초하여 비형식적 통계적 추리 과제로 상자그림을 활용한 두 표본 비교 과제를 개발한 다음, 현실적인 맥락을 반영하여 <실용 통계> 과목을 수강하고 있는 고등학생 38명을 대상으로 설문 조사와 면담을 실시하여 자료를 수집하였다. 자료 분석 결과, 연구참여자들의 비형식적 통계적 추리 수준은 두 과제 모두에서 2수준의 응답 비율이 가장 높았고, 응답 유형은 두 과제 모두 LI21이 가장 높은 비율을 보였다. 두 과제에 대한 연구참여자들의 비형식적 통계적 추리 수준을 비교해 본 결과, 과제 1에 대한 평균 수준이 과제 2보다 유의미하게 더 높다는 사실이 확인되었지만, 두 과제에 대한 응답 수준 사이에는 강한 양의 상관관계가 있다는 사실을 확인할 수 있었다. 본고에서는 이상과 같은 연구 결과에 기초하여 논의함으로써 상자그림을 활용한 비형식적 통계적 추리 지도를 위한 교수학적 시사점 및 제언을 도출하였다.
영문 초록
The purpose of this study was to derive pedagogical implications for teaching informal statistical inference by exploring students' methods and levels of comparative inferential reasoning when they deal with tasks comparing two samples using box plots. To achieve this, two tasks comparing two samples using box plots were developed based on a literature review of informal statistical inference. In a realistic context, 38 high school students enrolled in a Practical Statistics course were selected as participants, and data were collected through surveys and interviews. The analysis revealed that response level 2 for informal statistical inference was the most frequently observed among participants across both tasks. The most common response type for informal statistical inference was LI21 in both tasks. A comparison of participants' levels of informal statistical inference across the two tasks showed that the average level for Task 1 was significantly higher than for Task 2. Furthermore, a strong positive correlation between the levels of informal statistical inference for the two tasks was identified. Based on these findings, this paper discusses and proposes pedagogical implications and recommendations for teaching informal statistical inference using box plots.
