본 논문은 빅토르 에리세(Víctor Erice)의 2023년 영화 <클로즈 유어 아이즈>(Cerrar los ojos)를 메타영화의 관점에서 분석한다. 에리세는 이 작품에서 미장아빔(mise en abyme) 구조와 영화 속 영화(Cinéma dans le cinéma)를 통해 영화라는 매체와 기억, 정체성의 문제를 탐구한다. 영화 속 인물들은 영화와 현실, 그리고 기억과 재현의 경계에서 다양한 층위의 내러티브를 형성하며, 이 층위들은 서로 공명하며 중층적 의미로 확장된다. 에리세는 이러한 구성을 통하여 자신의 영화 적 주제를 심화시키고 있다. 본 논문은 <클로즈 유어 아이즈>가 과거와 현재, 영화와 현실의 경계를 넘나들게 하며 영화 속 주인공들과 감독의 정체성을 반영하는 미장아빔적 장치를 분석하는 동시에, 에리세가 삽입한 다종다양한 상호텍스트 적 요소들이 영화 속에서 어떻게 새로운 의미를 생성하는지 살펴본다. 이를 통해 이 작품이 단순한 탐정 서사가 아니라 영화의 매체적 특성을 반영하며 관객에게 기억과 정체성, 그리고 매체 자체에 관한 깊은 성찰을 요구하는 복합적 서사임 을 논의한다.

영문 초록

This study analyzes Víctor Erice's 2023 film Close Your Eyes(Cerrar los ojos) from a metafilmic perspective. In this work, Erice explores the issues of memory and identity through the use of a mise en abyme structure and the film within a film device(Cinéma dans le cinéma). The characters in the film navigate the boundaries between cinema and reality, memory and representation, creating multiple layers of narrative. These layers resonate with one another, unfolding into complex meanings. Through this composition, Erice deepens his cinematic themes. This study examines the mise en abyme device in Close Your Eyes, which reflects the identities of both the protagonists and the director, crossing the boundaries of past and present, film and reality. Additionally, it explores how the various intertextual elements Erice incorporates generate new meanings within the film. Ultimately, this study argues that Close Your Eyes is not merely a detective story, but a multi-layered narrative that reflects the unique nature of cinema as a medium, prompting the audience to reflect on memory, identity, and the medium itself.
