영유아 자녀를 둔 아버지 양육참여에 관한 국내 연구동향 분석

국문 초록

목적 본 연구 목적은 국내 학술지에 출판된 아버지 양육참여에 관한 국내 연구동향을 알아보고자 하였다. 방법 이를 위하여 ‘아버지 양육참여’, ‘영아’, ‘유아’를 주제어로 RISS, KCI, DBpia, KISS 검색엔진에서 2024년 5월 14일부터 5월 21일까지 논문을 수집하였다. 논문 제목, 초록, 전문 검토 단계를 통해 163편을 분석 대상 논문으로 선정하였으며, 연구 시기별, 연구 방법별, 연구 대상별, 연구 주제별 동향을 분석하였다. 결과 첫째, 아버지 양육참여와 관련 연구 시기별 동향은, 1993년을 시작으로 연구가 조금씩 시작되다가 5시기(2013년- 2017년), 6시기(2018년-2024년 4월)까지 매년 지속하여 연구가 이루어지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 연구 방법별 동향은 거의 대부분 양적연구방법으로 이루어졌으며, 질적연구와 문헌연구 방법이 4시기(2008년-2012년)를 시작으로 6시기에 혼합연구가 소수로 이루어지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 연구 대상별 동향은 아버지 단독으로 이루어진 연구가 가장 많았으며, 아버지와 영유아, 아버지와 어머니 그리고 영유아, 아버지와 교사, 아버지 없이 어머니 혹은 어머니와 영유아만을 대상으로 하는 연구, 기타연구로 문헌연구, 아동패널연구가 이루어진 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 연구 주제별 동향은 아버지 양육참여와 영유아 발달 영향에 대한 연구가 가장 많이 이루어졌으며, 아버지 양육참여에 미치는 아버지 관계적 특성, 아버지 양육참여와 어머니의 특성, 아버지 양육참여 경험에 관한 의미, 아버지 양육참여에 관한 인식 및 실태, 아버지 양육참여 관련 프로그램 개발 연구 순으로 나타났다. 결론 아버지 양육참여에 관한 연구는 매 시기 지속적으로 증가하였으며, 저출산 극복, 양성평등 사회의 관심과 제도적 지원 확장 속에서 관련 연구가 더 증가할 것으로 예상된다. 또한, 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 아버지 양육참여에 관한 후속 연구를 위한 연구 방법별, 대상별, 주제별 연구 내용에 대한 논의가 이루어졌다.

영문 초록

Objectives This study aims to examine research trends related to father involvement in parenting, as published in domestic academic journals. Methods Articles were collected from RISS, KCI, DBpia, and KISS using keywords such as ‘father involvement in parenting,’ ‘infant,’ and ‘young children’ between May 14 and May 21, 2024. A total of 163 articles were selected after reviewing titles, abstracts, and full texts. The trends were analyzed based on research period, methods, subjects, and topics. Results Results show that studies on father involvement in parenting began in 1993 and have continued annually, particularly from the fifth period (2013-2017) to the sixth period (2018-May 2024). Second, the majority of studies employed quantitative methods. Qualitative research and literature review methods began to appear in the fourth period (2008-2012), with a small number of mixed-method studies emerging in the sixth period. Third, the most common studies focused solely on fathers, followed by those involving fathers and their young children, fathers and mothers with their children, and studies on fathers and teachers. There were also studies focusing on mothers or mothers with their children, excluding fathers, as well as literature reviews and child panel studies. Lastly, the most frequent topic was the impact of father involvement in parenting on the development of young children. Other topics included studies on relational characteristics of fathers affecting involvement, the relationship between father involvement and maternal characteristics, the significance of fathers’ parenting experiences, fathers' perceptions and realities, and program development. Conclusions Research on father involvement in parenting has grown steadily and is expected to increase further, driven by societal focus on addressing low birth rates, promoting gender equality, and expanding institutional support. Future research should consider diverse methods, subjects, and topics.
